My family and I were planning a first week in December trip, but we had to change and make plans for May 21-27th. I am feeling very sad because I know this time of year will be great. Low crowds, great atmosphere with all the Christmas stuff out. I am reading about all these people getting ready to go(so jealous) and it should be me too! This will be our first trip with the girls and I wanted it to be great. We will miss the Memmorial day weekend (Thank God) but will it be low crowds between May 21-27th, we will be miserable if it is summer type crowds. Please tell me we fall in a good window?????

Well, if it makes you feel any better, someone posted that there are several "conventions" the 1st w/end in Dec. Not a room available on site!:crowded:

Maybe you've received a "blessing in disguise".;)

Have a wonderful time in May!

Don't worry May is a great time to go. We were going to go in Feb. but decided to change it until May. We always went in May but changed that a couple of years ago because I really wanted to go for x-mas. Don't get me wrong it was great during x-mas time. The decorations were great and the crowds were low during our first week but got very over crowded our second week. And the weather was not as nice as I would have liked. Our DD usually had long sleeve pants and shirts on and she didn't get to go in the pool! We decided this year to go when we love it the most. The weather is around 85 and nice. There are the occasional rainy days but it usually only lasts for about 10 minutes. You'll love it in May. And anyway anytime you get to go to WDW is okay by me!

I know first hand how you are feeling. We had to change our holiday trip last year until this past May. It was wonderful. One of the best trips to the World we have ever had. The crowds were not bad at all. The only problem we had was the hot weather. We're from the frozen North so we're not use to ninety degree temperatures in May! I see you are from Florida though so your trip should be just about perfect. Have a great time!

Thanks for all the replys! I know any time to go to the World is good :D Maybe I should just stay off the boards till after the Holidays;) For all of you going in December, have a great trip.:teeth:

Sorry to hear that you had to change your dates! We were there the week after memorial day in 2000 and it WAS PACKED! of course it could have been crowded because it was the Millenium too! It was also very HOT! up in the 90's with 95% humidity most of the time and only an occasional rain shower. I'm one of those people who doesn't DO well in the heat and humidity so this year we are going in December. No matter how hot and crowded it is, you will always have FUN! Have a wonderful trip and just think that when you get to go, the rest of US will be thinking "I wish I could go!"

We went that week this year. The parks weren't bad, except for MK. Does that park ever have an empty day? It was very warm. I took 2 showers a day! Oh, the luxury! :D We did Typhoon Lagoon, too. It was great!

I have gone both times of year. They each have there own benifits. You will enjoy may, just be aware of the heat it can be intense. When we went Star Wars weekend were going on. Not a real Star Wars fan, but it was fun and exciting. Just think of this. More time to save and plan.

We've gone twice in May (once early in the month, once at the end of the month) and loved it! It was HOT, but the crowds were very reasonable. With the right amount of planning (which parks to hit which days, taking mid-day breaks, etc...) you'll be fine! And, now you have the perfect excuse for another trip (must go in December sometime....)

Relax and enjoy!

Yes, once. Friday, Sept. 14, 2001. It was 3 days after 9/11, and there was a tropical storm going thru. It was raining buckets, horizontally, and our umbrellas blew inside out. I'll bet there weren't 100 people in the MK that day! Just other dummies like us, lol  Hey, we didn't have to wait in any lines, though! :hyper:

Our trip last year was the same week your going. Crowds were very low and it was star wars weekend. We pretty much went on rides 3 times in the time it would have took one ride in the summer the previous year. No waits whatsoever.

Lovmy2girls,

As you know that will be the first week-end after most of the Florida schools start Summer vacation...(Also the last few weeks before Florida Resident Seasonal Pass black-out dates start) So there will be heaver crowds...but crowds will just build from then though the summer.

We go during the same days taking advantage of EMH to do big attractions before general park hours. We stay until until 1:30-2:00pm then head for the Resort to rest and swim.
Going back to parks after it cools off.

You will have a great trip:earsboy:

We went around that week this year. Our trip started before Memorial Day and ended after. Before Memorial Day, the crowds were great..we loved it! Then Memorial Day weekend came and it was unbearable! MGM had a Star Wars weekend and that Saturday, you could barely walk! Plus, it was a million degrees. Us New Englanders aren't used to that! Hopefully, the week after President's Week when we go this year will be better.

lovmy2girls~~~Where in Pensacola are you from? Look at my location! I'm just right down the street from you. I work at Ruby Tuesday on Hwy 29 and at Babbage's in Cordova Mall! :teeth:

Hey Tiggerlover,
We are at the back gate of the Navy base, off of fBlue Angel. Are you going in May too?

I know where you are!! How neat!

We are going in May, but if you'll look at my counter and the signature in my thread, that's not til May of 2006. :( :worried: DH and I celebrate our anniversary in May, and I just love visiting Disney at that time!! ::yes:: :goodvibes:
I wish we could get there sooner, but I think it's going to be so much better celebrating our 15th anniversary in one of the coolest places on earth. Where else can a couple celebrate their anniversary in 12 different countries at one time?? :teeth:

lovemy2girls,

I haven't been in May for many years. I like anytime between Oct.-Dec.
However, I will be there in May (same time as you) next year. On May 23rd, 2004, Disney is hosting the 1st Florida half-ironman event. The event is expected to sell out at 1800 participants. Plus their families. There is an EXPO on Thurs & Fri. May 20 & 21.

So anyone planning a visit during that time may want to make your reservations early.

Now I just have to get my butt in gear to train for this race:teeth:
