Sad.... 10yr old killed by bus at WDW (2nd story added)

So tragic...I simply could not imagine something like this happening on our vacation :sad1:

We've stayed at Ft. Wilderness many times ... you have a lot of unsupervised children out and about and those buses are huge. Just like the school buses and metro buses in your hometown it is hard to see if a little one crosses in front of you.

This is truly sad and we don't know what happened yet but i know there are many children who are not supervised properly and unfortunate thing can and do happen when children are not watched. That may not be the case here but more and more in this country there are parents who are too busy to watch and take care of thier children. It is a trend that needs to be reversed. Sorry if this offends anyone but if more supervision can keep tragedies like this from happening then i'm all for it.

I don't know what to say...this is horrible for everyone involved. The poor little girl that was riding with him, what she must be going through right now... heartbreaking just heartbreaking...

I almost lost my son in a car crash this week so this story is hitting way too close to home! I'm adding this boy's family to my prayers! So heartbreaking!

My heart and prayers go out to the family & disney. This is tragic for all involved. :guilty:

How horrible. I can't imagine what the family is going through. My prayers are with them.

Looks like he was a local boy riding with a friend. Both boys were wearing helmets. The original story has been updated with more info.

I've been a bit nervous since the story broke. I'm hoping will get confirmation about where the child is from soon. I have so many kids down there right now.

This is truly a sad accident. My heart and prayers go out to the family of both children. I can't begin to imagine what the other child is going through seeing the accident. My thoughts are also with the bus driver who will have to live the rest of his life with this whether it was an accident or not.

Heartbreaking. :sad1: My prayers are with his family and his friend who witnessed the tragedy. The bus driver and guests on the bus must be pretty shaken up.

...and let's not forget our prayers for the bus driver. I can't imagine the guilt and pain he'll have!

I left a voicemail last year that was played on the show about the buses being a a dangerous nuisance in the campground. It is the one complaint I had about the resort. The buses are loud and fast and ruin the whole experience of camping. I made a complaint to Disney last year that trolleys be brought in to replace the bus system.

My heart goes out to those parents....

I feel terrible for everyone involved-the family and the bus driver. It is entirely possible that the driver did nothing wrong and this was a horrible accident that he/she will have to live with for the rest of their lives.

I also feel sorry for the people on the bus when this happened. How do you explain this to your children who are on vacation at "the happiest place on earth?"

Thanks for the update. I am relieved yet feel horribly that it happened.
