SAB for non-swimmers???

I am planning a grand gathering and some of the children in our group are weak swimmers, but too old for the kiddie section of SAB.

Would the older kids (tweens/teens) be able to use the slide (does it empty into the deeper section of SAB)?

Would the younger ones (6-9) be able to use the slide wearing life vests? How about the lazy river?

Any information you have regarding SAB would be helpful...thank you.

the slide goes into either 3' or 4' of water. so they should be fine.

definitely life vests for the lazy river - but the interior tub might be enough?

thank you...I thought that I read somewhere that the slide doesn't accomodate life vests is this correct?

Actually the life guards will not let anyone who is a non-swimmer us the slide at SAB. It empties into about five feet of water. You can't wear any assistive devices on it, and no one can wait at the bottom to catch another person. I've seen them "swim test" younger kids before allowing them to use that slide.

You can wear life vests in the lazy river.

I guess I will look into another resort perhaps the Boardwalk or Coronado they have great looking pools/slides.

Beware the lazy river is 8 feet deep in some sections. Only swimmers in the lazy river. The whirlpool is also scarey if you're a non-swimmer as it is hard to get out of. The slide is enclosed. There are plenty of other areas to enjoy at the pool.

The lazy river in my opinion is misnamed, it is not lazy at all and is 8 feet deep in all areas, until you begin to come out of it, into the other areas of the pool. Where the swift current is, it is 8 feet all the way around.

Definitely not an area for novice swimmers.

As Ducklite shared the slide is off limits for non swimmers and those that need flotation device.

Personally I think there are better pools to consider than this one. It looks great but is not user friendly for all.

If you decide to stick with SAB, there is a second slide that's perfect for younger kids -- it's across the sidewalk on the lake side. My son loved it when he was 5-6 and too timid to do the big one. It is open and empties into 3-foot water.

There are several hot tubs at SAB, and I've never had any trouble getting out of them. I'm not much of swimmer either.
