We are t aking a quick trip to KV in Oct before our Carnival Dream cruise. My Mom will be flyinf in on Thur and we will have diner at Boma and then I thought of having lunch at Saana. Any good or bad opinions out there?

We did lunch in May prior to departing for VB and enjoyed it very much. :thumbsup2

We absolutely love Sanaa...like it better than Boma and Jiko, in fact...atmosphere, service and food are all terrific...the only caveat I'd add is you won't find much in the way of "regular" food (burgers, chicken nuggets type things)...but what they do have is absolutely delicious...

First time we tried it I went for the one "normal" item I could find (a club sandwich) and it was delicious...since then I've gotten more adventurous...they have a lamb pattie on one of their flat Indian breads that I still occasionally dream about!

Really really good. We're huge fans...

Hope you enjoy just as much...happy vacation

Great! Can you tell me if it's spicy? What about the tandoori stuff? Toddler and I love hummus and eat that a lot, and we all love couscous too, but the other stuff, we haven't really eaten. I have a lunch reservation for the summer, but not sure if we should keep it?

Thanks, Tiger :)

Moved from DVC Boards.

We enjoyed our lunch at Saana last November. Food and service were both very good.

I love Sanaa:love:

I was just telling my fiance yesterday, that I was craving it! Dont know how I can wait until December to eat there again:rotfl: I better win the lottery so I can get there sooner!

Tiger,
I would call it moderately spicy...I'm not a huge fan of spicy foods, either, and I could eat here every day, lol...I dont find the tandoori, too spicy, either...If you think it may be an issue, talk to the server, they are great!
Keep the reservation

The Sanaa offerings have out-of-the-mainstream flavors, and it took me several visits (and sampling my son's more adventurous choices!) to get up the courage to try some...but they are incredibly good...try the tamarind...YUMMY!...not at all "spicy" in terms of "hot"...but definitely flavorful...

Some dishes have a bit of a "bite" to them (I'm not a fan of hot-spicy food, either...but my son is...so I got to sample a bite here and bite there)...the tandoori is his favorite and I loved it too...it's not "mild," but wasn't at all too spicy for me, particularly when I combined a bite of rice w/the chicken & sauce in one mouthful)...

And the desserts are to die for! (I, sadly, find dessert irresistable!)...

I'm definitely a "plain food" person...I do enjoy well-cooked chicken, beef (steak), pork...I'm generally not even a little bit "adventurous" when it comes to flavors...but as noted earlier, I can't rave enough about Sanaa...love the food, love the CMs, love the dining room...and the previous poster who suggested talking over your likes and concerns w/your server made a really good recommendation...the Sanaa servers are the friendliest, most helpful people at Disney!

I guess you can tell that we're HUGE fans...I'll be really interested to hear your own reaction if you decide to keep your reservation and give it a try...I really hope it works out for you!

So what desserts do you recommend? I admit that I'm also a dessert fan. And what's good for lunch there, not too spicy? That ground lamb sounds interesting.

We had lunch there last August at 12:30. :thumbsup2 Our server was Giovanni from Italy. He was very good and explained the menu. The restaurant is smaller and quite, when compared to Boma. The food was not spicy. My daughter is planning to return in August.

Just checked the menu (to remember the names of the food choices we selected)--Allears.net--the desert menu has changed...our last trip (in Jan) we had the rice pudding and an orange cake that I absolutely loved (loved the rice pudding, too--so much that I'm ashamed to admit that one time (out of three visits there over a week) I ordered both!)...neither is on the current menu (my waistline will be grateful even if my taste buds are disappointed!)

The lamb is called lamb kefka and it's fantastic...my DS loves-loves-loves the chicken w/red curry sauce, the short ribs and the tandoori chicken (I really liked all 3, too, altho I'll have a hard time picking anything over the lamb kefka!)...I've also had the club sandwich (very good)...I see there's now a chuck burger...don't recall if it was offered before, and I just didn't select it,

The samosas (appetizer) are also delicious...both sauces are very, very good...but we particularly love the tamarind...kind of a sweet-ish tasting barbeque-y kind of sauce...it's very unique...doesn't really taste like anything else, but that's as close as I can come to describing it...

Back to desserts: the new desserts are items I've not tried...so unfortunately can't give my rave review to any of them...

We had dinner there, I dont know how the menus differ, but we loved this place and highly recommend it.

Dorothy, they have changed their menu and the desserts are different now...I remember they had cardamom cake that I loved! They dont have it anymore and I havent had any of the desserts since they changed them.

Thanks, but I just remembered that I had a real nice drink at the Sanaa bar once after I went on the resturaunt tour. As I remember, that would make a great dessert.

I ate at Sanaa's for lunch last week, very very good. All the salads were excellent.

I like it so much that my wife and kids will be going this Friday for a sort of an early Easter meal for lunch.

The Vanilla Rice Pudding was fantastic, more like a cake than a pudding.

The Tomato soup was good and my 3YO gobbled it down.

Saana is gross and yucky don't go there

J/K just trying to keep the masses away so it doesn't go the way of LeCellier LOL!

Lunch is great, the food is flavorful, and not too spicy. The view is amazing if the animals are out. Where else can you do lunch with a giraffe?

Haha, that was my thinking, but I'll be nice. :rotfl:

I haven't been for lunch, but the dinner menu is mostly the same and it was EXCELLENT!

I had the salad sampler with watermelon and radish, chickpea cucumber and tomato, and the raosted beets. All were great, but the watermelon radish was my fav!

I had the slow cooked in gravy, simple and well seasoned for an entree. I choose the 5 grain pilaf, beef short ribs, and chicken with red curry. All were super delicious.

I had the sampler dessert - chocolate cake, chai creme and passion fruit kulfi. The chocolate cake was dry and boring, but the other 2 items were soooo good.

I love Sanaa, don't miss it!

Now I'm the opposite. The spicier the better for me, nothing can be too spicy (hey I'm from Texas where our kids are weaned on jalapeno peppers:rotfl:). What is the spiciest thing on the lunch menu? I'll be eating lunch at Sanaa May 1st.

We had dinner there a week ago and it was the best meal we've ever had at WDW. We do prefer spicy food and found it pretty toned down but it was still very good.
