S2IS vs. TZ1

I went to Best Buy to look at the Canon S2IS (and so was someone else) and both salesmen were trying to push the Panasonic TZ1 as the better camera. In reading on the TZ1, it doesn't seem to do as well for indoor and nightime photos. Would others agree with this? And which camera would you guys prefer for all around picture taking (indoor, outdoor-day, outdoor-night)?

Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

Yes, you are correct. Panasonic high ISO capability is not as good as Canon's

MY TAKE

S2 IS= Better overall camera, longer zoom, faster(focus and shooting performance), and uses AA batteries

TZ1= Almost half the size and weight(smallest 10x), less expensive(about $60 less at places like Buydig), bigger LCD(but I dont think it flips out), closer Macro range, Higher rez video and uses Recharable battery(included).

IMO the TZ1 does VERY WELL indoors as does the Canon, but neither are GREAT when it comes to indoor(lowlight) images. Panasonic has a reputation for higher ISO noise, and the TZ1 is having a hard time living it down. For me the main distinction between the two is that one is POCKET CAMERA style and one is more DSLR style. I already have a full size DSLR, I would choose the TZ1 for the days that I did not feel like carrying a bag. If I did not own a real DSLR I would opt for the S2 IS.

I decided to go with the S2. I've only had it a couple of days and so far I like it. The trick will be learning as much as possible before our trip to WDW in October. If anyone has some tricks or tips they've learned along the way using this camera, I would love it if you shared them.
