Just closed at BCVs on 4/25 and already considering adding on!! We are considering purchasing HH through a resale. We vacation there every summer and would like the 11 month home resort privilege as this is peak season for HH.

My question is: Do we want the same use year for both resorts? When I mentioned this to our guide, she said that we could be put on a wait list through DVC, but that it could be a while until the same use year comes up. She said we would want the same use year for both contracts. Why????

Also, anybody have problems with DVC's ROFR when purchasing a resale?

Thanks in advance for any input!

We have two use years. Not a problem. Simply have to keep track of different banking dates. Your guide may have just been referring to Disney's own procedures--it will sell you an add on only in your existing use year (unless your add on is at least the 150 minimum required of a new purchaser, in which cased Disney will let you choose a different use year).

Put yourself on a wait list AND look for an appropriate resale. It is nice to have the same use year but if you're looking at summer, it depends on what your use year is. You may not want a late summer or fall use year if you can help it. 2 use years are not a problem for anyone who can balance a checkbook. Bottom line is if you're looking at 150 points or more, it's ok to have more than one use year. If it's less I'd lean toward points the same use year as you have.

Just out of curiosity, If a member has two or more contracts with seperate use years, do they have two seperate membership numbers? If so, does MS see it as two seperate members? Does that cause a problem when combining points from different memberships to complete a booking? Can MS see both accounts at once?

Sorry for the million questions. I saw this question last night, but did not want to answer it because I did not want to steer them wrong.

Thanx for the help!

Yes, it is basically like 2 different members and all of the rules apply for transfers, etc ALMOST. They cannot see all accounts info at one time. The only time it appears they can see multiple accounts is if they search for member using SSN. But then they must chose one to view specifics. They are pretty flexible on transferring even banked and borrowed points if this needs to be done but usually reservations made using both accounts end up being separate reservations that are linked together. They only need to transfer for things that can only come from one account like cruises, CC, a single DVC day and the like and then if you need that many points.
