I was wondering if anyone would still go to Disney if the days they picked to visit only had availability at 1 park(the same park mostly too) but you had park hopper tickets, is it worth it to visit Disney at this time or should I move our plans to another time?

Thanks

Not me. I would not go even if I had access to all four parks. Too much else missing, let alone being restricted to only going to a park after 2p.

I am holding out until a return to near normal. I need all attractions, shows, restaurants, resorts, full capacity, no masks, no social distancing. I need WDW to be my escape, my Happy Place, or it's not worth it.

Of course, depends on your situation. I am in Ohio, need to find a gap in work, enough money, enough advanced planning. It all has to be well-coordinated to make it work- and that effort has to be well-rewarded.
If, however, I lived nearby, had APs, was retired, or had enough time, money to allow for multiple trips, then maybe.

That's a personal decision but personally, I would not go. I don't want an entire trip at 1 park and basically that's what I'm accepting by booking when only 1 park has availability. There is no guarantee that other parks will open up for availability. For me, we would change the dates of our trip.

I should add that my son and I have Military tickets from last year that are hoppers and need to be used and we have some DVC points and a timeshare week that need to be used sooner than later.

I would go! Why waste it? Not sure how many days you have, but just go and have fun! If you have 5 days a day every day is Magic kingdom then go an have fun! It’s possible that parks may open up as you get closer ( and offers change their mind) or even while you are there! You wouldn’t have to “rope drop”, you could get to the park ( if you end up doing sane one) and just do 3 rides. Take time to try different restaurants, explored different areas then park hop after 2:00. Your vacation will be what you make if it! Ride a few rides, try some new snacks, go to the resort pool snd swim and then see what park you can hop to in the afternoon! There are so many “different” ways to experience Disney! Just think, you might be the only person to write a trip report about 7 days at Magic Kingdom!🤣
Go and have fun! Thank you for you/your sons service❤️

I guess thats what I was wondering about the hopping, are other parks always open to jump to after 2pm or is it a crap shoot and we could get there and find out that nothing opens up at 2pm every day, is that possible? has it happened to anyone where they couldn't hop at all?

Thanks

If you have Park Hoppers on your tickets, park hopping has always been allowed even when all 4 parks were at capacity for park reservations.

Given your set of circumstances I would go. Even if the other parks don't open for reservations there is a pretty good chance you are going to be able to hop after 2, as others have said they have yet to close down to hopping even on days they were at capacity. You don't have to stay all day at park #1, just tap in at some point before 2, so if you can't get reservations for other parks, use the time for swimming or exploring the resort or going to DS if that's your thing or sleeping in.

When are you going? Capacity may increase before then and maybe park reservations will too! I would definitely go. Worst case, you will always remember that trip as “the one that started every day at _____.” Then you just hop to other parks at 2. No one to date has reported that they haven’t been able to hop. Actually sounds kind of fun! What park are all your ressies at?

As of today I have 2 days at Animal Kingdom and the other days at Epcot. The dates that I'm looking at are June 13 to 18th. As I was looking at the Reservation system I went from 1 day at Animal Kingdom to 2 so who knows maybe I can pick up a few more days at a different park. I was just hoping to get info on if anyone was unable to hop after 2pm since they opened up Hopping as an option again. Like glocon says worse case is we arrive at Epcot for any hour or so then hop to another park.

thanks

Except MK is the 2nd park to sell out every day, right after Studios. Epcot is probably the only park left. And right now Epcot is very limited, hard to get around & doesn’t even open til 11.

OP, before you give up, spend a day or 2 actually trying to get reservations, not just looking at the calendar page. Lots of people have been able to get park reservations even when the calendar says everything is full.

Well, I didn’t really mean “Magic Kingdom” Every day but I just chose that as an example....I actually really enjoy EPCOT and I would go for 5 days! But I agree that I bet parks will open up!

No, no one has been unable to hop to any park since park hopping restarted. That includes days when regular park reservations were fully booked.

No. I have Park Hoppers for December 2022 and will be making my reservations well in advance of the calendar creeping up on summer 2022, so I can have the days I planned for on our itinerary and not have to worry about having to rearrange our park days.

I did decide to book what I could since when I started thinking of going in June all the reservations have booked up.
So I guess my next question would be what is the easiest way of switching reservations when you find an opened day at a different park cause I think I read I'd have to cancel what I have to book a new one, correct? would I be taking the chance of loosing the one I have to try to book a day at say MK?

Thanks

Yes you have to cancel your current reservation in order to make a new one. So you do run the risk of ending up with nothing. I'd go for a high priority park MK/HS and know you can most likely always hop to one of the others (meaning make those first and fill in with the others, don't only make those lol).

If there’s not a different time that works for your vacation schedule and DVC availability, I’d go and not waste the tickets. Two days at AK and the others currently booked at EPCOT could keep me happy. If you like ”being” at Disney world on vacation, you’re still getting that. Just missing specific experiences. Some of those are deal breakers for people. That’s my touchy-feely answer.

As for reservations, keep the AK ones. If a park becomes available on any of your EPCOT days, I’d say give it a try. Yes, there is that hold your breath moment when Before you book the replacement. Just be prepared to try and rebook yourself at EPCOT immediately if you are unsuccessful. Keep trying. Up to the last moment. ... And even while you are at WDW on vacation.

I treated my trips as a slower-paced park experience. If you have to wait til 10/11 to get in to EPCOT, take some time to swim or try some breakfast spots (without wasting park time).

Getting reservations in September and November weren’t this hard. We could be gearing up for the return to pre-pandemic crowds.

Hope you and DS have a great time together, at WDW or wherever.

(You could go to the beach in the morning and come back and do nighttime parks). Mix it up, don’t just repeat your same old Disney trip plans.)

Given you have tickets and DVC points that need to be used, I would go.
Keep checking as park reservations do become available.
Disney also has (it appears) moved park reservations from the AP group to the resort groups, so more passes may become available.
