I can do the on line check in as of today for our Jan trip!!!! (time has finally come)

anyways I thought I read something here that if you do on line you can skip the front desk and

go right to your room

is this running now at all hotels were at the CBR

and how/when do you get your room number

Sometimes. Not always. They will let you know what you can do when it comes time to arrive.

If you can skip the desk, they will text you when your room is ready, with room number.

Online check-in is not a guarantee you get to skip the desk, though.

thanks for your fast reponse that explains alot--

I was under the impression that the on line lets you skip the front desk

so unless disney notifies you --you still need to go to the front desk to check in

no big deal either way--just wanted to know what I was doing---youd think this was our first trip--but we go once a year and it seems like somethings always changing

we got our text at the airport we were stopped in the lobby asking us if we needed anyway! all depends upon what time you put on your arrival maybe

If all of the stars align and you've completed all of the requirements then you might get to skip the front desk. You need to already have your magic bands before departure, have a cc on file on your MDE, have a PIN number set up, and list your ETA. They also need a phone number or email so they can send you your room number by text or email, usually around or a little before your arrival time.

We had a mixed bag experience with this on our Thanksgiving trip this year. We did the online check in 10 days out as prescribed for non-package guests. Everything went pretty smoothly with our stay at Kidani as we were able to straight to our room which was wonderful since our flight was delayed and we didn't get to the resort until 11:30 P.M. I did find out when I went to Mara to get some water that our bands were not setup for charging even though I had a credit card and PIN setup through MDE. Not a problem though as the AKL front desk had this fixed relatively quickly. We had problems once again with our check in at Poly an BCV. Both times we had to go to the front desks to take care of issues with our bands not opening our room doors. Poly fixed this right away and BCV failed miserably. I spent the better part of 90 minutes total covering 2 different trips to front desk before I was able to get the room doors to open.

A word of advice is you don't need to go to the front desk. Have a detailed map of the resort with you when you arrive. You'll have your room number and building number but it won't help much if you don't know where your building is.

I've never had a package, and online checkin for WDW resorts starts at 60 days out. Not that it would have changed the MDE/MB issues you had, but thought I'd put that out there.

You will know when you arrive. I did online check in for my trip a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea no that I was going to skip the frontdesk until I got the text when waiting in line for magical express. I got a text when my plane landed that my room wasn't quite ready yet. Then I got another when waiting for DME saying my room was ready and I could go straight to my room without stopping at the front desk. Online check in doesn't automatically mean you can skip the frontdesk, but you MAY just get the same text upon arriving. Some people have gotten a text telling them to stop at the frontdesk first.
