s/o What's your favorite donut?

Probably the Red Velvet donut form Gibson's here in town. I also love the blueberry cake ones and eclairs.

I've changed my preferences over the years. As a kid it was raised sugar. But now it's raised glazed. I hear so much praise for Krispy Kreme which I find OK but nothing special. We've got tons of mom and pop donut stores using basic commercial mixes. A lot operated by East Asian immigrant families - especially from Cambodia. To me that's just about perfect.

Some Chinese friends have turned me on to "Chinese donuts" that are really just fried dough strips. McDonald's had something similar last year with their donut sticks.

Hot Chinese donuts are excellent. I've never tried McDonald's, but you can't beat them, when they're fresh from a Chinese restaurant. IMO, KK "Hot Doughnuts Now" comes in a distant second.

Generally it is hard for me to pass up a Boston creme type donut, usually preferring custard filling over creams or jellies. But there are some family bakeries known for a type or two which are great.

One is a powdered sugar covered stick cruller type with a white creme inside. I didn’t think I would care for them, but I was wrong! And there are some Amish run markets that have donut making areas. These solid, cake type donuts are made fresh and there are some winners there, both filled and non-filled varieties.

A town I lived in had a Krispy Kreme that made them fresh on one of those automated conveyer systems, and right off the belt those glazed ones were really good. Now it seems their stores around here don’t make them on site.

I don't really eat donuts, I guess the regular Krispy Kreme would be my choice.

The once in a blue moon I have a donut it is usually Boston Creme but sometimes vanilla or chocolate creme.

We generally do not eat donuts, but if I did indulge it would be hard to pick 1 favorite. I think it is between a glazed donut, jelly donut, powdered sugar or apple cider donut.

For my extreme sweet tooth it's the Krispy Kreme Chocolate Iced Creme filled donut. Otherwise I like the plain white cake donut with white icing topped with coconut or it's glazed donut holes.

This would be my favorite too - love it!
I never eat it, because just looking at this picture adds an inch around my waist :rotfl:

Raised doughnut with granulated sugar (or cinnamon sugar) on the outside. Or chocolate cake doughnut with glaze. I'm also a fan of apple fritters. Do those count as doughnuts?
