Since we're talking about the sports memories, I was thinking of where I've sat for such events. I've gotten a few great seats to performances or sporting events. When I was visiting NYC, I bought tickets in the morning for a Sondheim musical at TKTS. Not only was it half price, but it was in the second row. It was a little bit off to the side, but it was extremely close.

A few sporting events were where I got extremely close. I went to a Cal-UCLA basketball game and bought a ticket from a scalper for just $25. The seat was fourth row (the ticket said row A4 which is closer than "row 1") at what's now Oracle Arena. I could see and hear everything that I didn't experience even 25 feet further away. Another time I bought a ticket on the day of a game at Cal's old gym. I was right next to the PA announcer. There was a fan of the visiting team who got all amped up about a certain official's call ("He was fouled!") but the PA announcer covered the mike with his hand, leaned over to her, and said "He travelled first." The same game I could heard the official call a carry on one player who was notorious for it. He was just walking it up the court without any defensive pressure and there was no particular advantage to doing it, but he was used to doing it. The ref said to him "Carry. Big time!" which I guess was his way of saying he wouldn't let it slide.

I saw a game at Wrigley Field from probably five rows behind first base. I could literally see the gray hairs on Ryne Sandberg's head. Unfortunately it was the season that the Cubs opened by going like 0-22 or something, so draw your own conclusions about how exciting that game was...

I also saw a game at Busch Stadium II from almost directly behind home plate, maybe six rows up. However, it was a minor-league game that, for some reason, was being played at Busch that night. There might have been 500 people there.

4th row for a concert at Westport Playhouse in STL. Better yet, our row was over the entrance to the dressing room, so though we were set back in 4th row position, there were no rows 1-3 in front of me. This was for Marshall Tucker Band.

I've also sat as close as 4th row at a Blues game, which wasn't as good as you'd think. We couldn't see the puck at all when it was anywhere near us. But, it was a thrill being that close to the action.

I've had front row orchestra pit numerous times.

Mezzanine front row and center for a touring Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast.

Olympics 2006 - Men's Giant Parallel Slalom Snowboarding. I will never forget the look on my nephew's face when he realized we had front row seats. We were just a few seats over from the Gold and Silver medalists (brothers) family. It was just as exciting watching them as it was the final race. We had third row seats for the 4-men bobsled preliminaries but everyone stands along the track.

Four rows behind the dugout at a Dodgers spring training game in Vero Beach. There was no real dugout there - the players sat on benches on the other side of the fence. We could see and hear everything. Some of their family was close by talking to them. It was fun.

Seats behind home plate for the Angels. These were Dugout Club seats that included the Sunday prime rib all you can eat brunch. We didn't get out to the game until the 8th inning! LOL The boys were taking the all you can eat as a challenge. ;)

Field level seats behind third base during a rain delay at Dodger Stadium. It wasn't about the game on that day either. It was just about having fun during the rain.

I've never had good seats for a good game.

This was the best though! Fuel last year!
Nothing like seeing older washed up bands:rotfl:... No one is ever there. I don't care though. I still love them.

Radiohead, 3rd row, 2008.
Father John Misty VIP - 2016
REM 1994, 6th row, with Natalie Merchant (I was so young, I couldn't drive, and went with older cousins, I thought I was SO cool)
VIP Oxygen festival to see JayZ, Muse, etc.
Arctic Monkeys in 2007 in Brooklyn in a TINY venue. I think I have the place right, it was random and right before they got popular.
Interpol - 2nd row, at the Ryman.
National and Morrisey - 8th row, Ryman.
National - 2nd row, Ryman.

ETA: I don't care about sportsball, but my dad has 4 psls to the Titans and whatever it is to the Preds (the man has never been to a hockey game, they're to give to business associates) I've been to each once. Both are CL, I remember drinks and the people on the ground performing running around. The guys with the better costumes lost both times.

Operas - we had a box in Vienna, it wasn't a great view, but what an experience! Same at the Met, and Royal Opera in London.

Oh, almost forgot this one. Center stage, 2nd row for Movin Out (Billy Joel inspired musical). Just close enough to ALMOST get hit by the dancers' sweat LOL.

I have had front row seats center for touring broadway productions a few times. The one I recall the most is " Beauty and thr Beast". I think we had them for " Le Miz" and "Hairspray" as well. I am a bit of a seat snob for these shows so I try to get the best seats possible especially if it is just DH and myself. With the 4 of us, I often have to be more frugal though.

When I was in high school, I managed to convince my parents to take me to the 1996 Breeder's Cup at Woodbine (outside Toronto). It was too late to get formal tickets, but I told them there should be "lawn" seats available cheap. So we went, dragged lawn chairs wth us, paid the basic daily entrance fee, and ended up right on the rail, just past the finish line. Best seats ever. Got to see Cigar run his last race from there. Photographed him with Jerry Bailey up, too.

Back in the 80's I had front row seats for Dwight Yoakam at the Miller Outdoor Theater in Houston. It was a free concert but my Mom and her friend stood in line VERY early to get the tickets. It was awesome. The next year or year after I was in the 4th row for Clint Black. OOoohh, almost forgot front row seats for Pat Benetar in the 80's as well. I sat right in front of Nick Gerardo. I was one happy 17 yr old :). Nothing since. I haven't been to a concert/sporting event in forever!!!
