S/O of the pot thread...

Part of the reason that I was interested in that topic is that a beloved family member smokes weed and brings it with him on trips with my family without telling us! He's so used to it that he doesn't realize the strength of the smell which haunts my clothes and hair after the least exposure. He's never stayed at POR, so he wasn't the culprit in this instance, but I know that while the rest of us are enjoying the magic, he's also scoping where he can smoke and has actually complained that the parks are designed to be weed proof i.e. there's nowhere for you to do anything illicit. (To me, that is an indication of excellent design.) He's actually gone so far as to rent a boat in order to smoke in the middle of the lagoon! My DH and I are sensitive to smoke of any kind and suffer from asthma. I would have had the same reaction whether the smell was from marijuana or cigarettes. In fact, we moved out of a suite at the Fairmont in Washington once because it smelled of cigarette smoke and had been masked in a sickly sweet air freshener. The Fairmont moved us to the Marriott, a non-smoking property, at their own expense. We thought that was a fair resolution.

I know a Disney has included vaping, e-cigs, with regular cigarettes. But I wonder if folks are more inclined to break the rules and use them indoors? And today I learned that some users have started to put THC oil in the vaping liquid. Made me wonder if that has a similar odor to smoking pot. Or are there other vaping liquids that smell like pot? I guess there are lots of different flavors and I assume odors with them

I live in California, land of many types of marijunana consumption. Here's the deal with vaping it… there are liquids with THC that do not smell any different than the nicotine ones. However, some people vape hash or another concentrate that will give some odor. There are small pen-like unit that can vape just mj flowers themselves, which will definitely smell, but they are less common. So overall, probably usually no more smell from it more than a regular e-cig, but it depends on what they vape.

I grew up with smoking parents and HATE being around, especially smelling like, cigarettes with a fiery passion. At the same time, I think common sense should prevail on both sides. No one should smoke where it could be a legitimate nuisance to others, especially people with allergies and asthma. Just like it would be rude to belch in someone's face, no one should have to inhale anything someone else is exhaling directly.

Last time we went to wdw I saw something that was IMO the opposite of common sense. My mom was with us and was smoking in a DSA. Unfortunately after almost 40 years of nagging, I've come to accept she will never quit. A family walked by, more than 40 feet away with the mother wigging out and telling her children to hold their breath. There wasn't a stream of smoke headed toward them or anything as it was going up as smoke usually does. They continued on and walked right through a giant cloud of bus exhaust. She did not tell the children to hold their breath through that. Thinking a cloud with a volume larger than your family is somehow less noxious than a tiny little cigarette is lacking in common sense IMO. Unfortunately I think a mania has been created about cigarette smoke that is disproportionate to the damage.

We were at the BWI exactly one year ago. It was COLD but we were determined to use our Boardwalk View blcony because we paid a lot for it! We were the only people using their balcony that week. But the poor guy right next to us wanted to use his to smoke. The first evening he comes walking out with a cig in his mouth, lighter in hand, sees us and freezes then slowly slinks back into his room. All week we saw him peeking through the curtains to see if we were out there!
