s/o Nights in Rodante

I like Diane Lane a lot, but I hate Nicholas Sparks. I've promised never to read another one of his books again and I don't think I'll watch any movies based on his books, either.

I did read Nights in Rodanthe and didn't hate it as much as others of his.

Why do you hate Nicolas Sparks?

Because I don't like tragedy just for tragedy's sake. I'm all for tear jerkers, but I just got tired of his characters dying unnecessarily. I can't remember what book it was I read last, but after that one, I decided no more. I even wrote him an email and told him. :lmao:

I'm with you. Blah, such fake, soap opera drama. And enough romance to make you puke. I can't handle it. Nothing about his books are even remotely realistic. I know it's fiction, but c'mon!

I see your point. I still liked the movie, but I can see where you are coming from.

Loved the book and the movie. The last Nicolas Sparks book I read was The Guardian. Made me cry so hard and long I havent picked up another of his books since. Oh not true - The Notebook another sob fest.

I read and enjoyed The Guardian too. Was that made into a movie? (Guess I could google that).

I was wondering the same thing! I dont know if I could watch it if it was.

*Just had a look, not a movie!

I went to wikipedia. The Guardian is not listed as one of the books made into a movie.

I loved the movie Nights in Rodanthe, but more because I love the house it was filmed at (Serendipity, an icon down there in the Outer Banks). We vacationed many times in the Rodanthe area, and were very familiar with that house. Tragically after the movie was filmed, Serendipity was condemned, left to fall into the ever encroaching ocean. But about a year ago someone bought the house, moved it to a safer location, and remodeled it like the movie. :)

I hate the ending of the movie, but the rest is fine.

I loved the house and the scenery - as well as the performances. I think the ending was necessary, showing how one moves on after a tragedy.

Thank you for posting this! We looked for it when we were in the OBX last June but couldn't find it. Nice to know it is actually there.

Loved Nights in Rodanthe but then I like all of Nicholas Sparks books. Loved the house in Nights of Rodanthe! :)
