S/O How do you pronounce cupboard?

I start feeling super self-conscious about how I say it but its very hard for me to say it properly.
I say covered.
When I say cupboard it comes out as 2 words and then my sister makes fun of me either way lol.

I often wonder if how you pronounce and what you call items comes about from where you are from or grew up ? We often discuss that here - as I grew up in an area completely different from my parents and a very close neighbor who was like a second mother to me - neighbor was from the South - parents from the East - I’m in the Midwest - I picked up both Eastern and Southern - depends on what I’m sayin - i find it very interesting - but that could just be me !

There was a large family where we used to live with the last name Campbell. DH was a surgical nurse and called the patient Mr. Campbell (the way I think 99% of people would say it. The guy threw a fit like DH was an absolute idiot because their name was CAMP-BELL. Finally DH asked him how he pronounced the soup. He said Campbell's (silent P). It's the exact same word, how would strangers have any clue that you choose to pronounce the same word differently in different contexts?
