S/O: Great Movies You Don't Like

Every single time The Great Race or It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World are on, DH has to watch them. Personally, I can't stand either of them. I think they're stupid. He says, "These are classics!" I say, "OK. Then they're old and stupid!"

Another one I can't stand is Beaches. The Bette Midler character was way over the top. The Barbara Hershey character was a drip. She was so boring that I didn't give a rip when she died. :rotfl:

Them being old has nothing to do with them being stupid. I want to like The Great Race - in fact I like a lot of it, but that ending! I just can't with stuff like that. I also find Tony curtis kind of annoying in general. Jack Lemmon is great in it though!

A Christmas Story, which, thanks to TBS and TCM has become a cult movie.
I’m honestly not a big lover of this movie too, which is sacrilege for someone in NW Indiana to say :duck:

I show Requiem to my film students. What can I say? I like to torture people.

As far as a film I deplore? Titanic. Hated everything about it, except the score. Dreck. I also hated the Passion of the Christ, except for its score. That film should’ve been given an NC-17 rating. I don’t care much for Blade Runner.

Yes! TITANIC was abysmal. I get screaming in my head just sink the dang boat already.

RIGHT? I get that the effects were significant for the time, but geez, that insipid love story between the poor boy and the rich girl? How many times have we seen that?? And yes, we get to see the gorgeous Kate Winslet au naturel, which wasn't altogether so bad, but still! Just couldn't get on the bandwagon...

The Godfather.......and yes, "it insists upon itself" (great Family Guy episode btw...!)

Glengarry Glen Ross - Ugh.....that is 2 hours of my time I will never get back in life. Always Be Closing became a joke around our house after that for anything annoying.

Not a movie but hated "Hamilton". DD and I were so excited to see it when it came out on streaming. We watched about 15 minutes, I paused the TV, we looked at each other and both said "this is awful. Can't watch this anymore." We browsed D+ and watched "Soul" instead....which was great!

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri - We usually enjoy Frances McDormand movies but this was a snoozefest.

Yes they are both pretty mindless exercises but I’m sure no one ever thought that they were creating cinematic excellence. You can add The Russians are Coming to the list

I'm not a big fan of the fictional story part of Titanic but I do like the amount of research and authenticity put into the film
If you ever watch “A Night to Remember” you’ll see shot for shot copies in “Titanic”

I had the same reaction the first time I saw Hamilton. I watched it all the way through but didn't feel like I enjoyed it.

Fast forward a month later, I'm humming some of the songs. I started listening to the soundtrack, then watched again and this time I loved it. Even went to Londond to see it live. No idea what changed after the first viewing.

It's a Wonderful Life.....snorefest.
I'm to the point where I can't watch It's A Wonderful Life anymore. The whole darkness of the Christmas Eve events leading up to the happy ending just crushes me. And I know it's coming, so the movie leading up to it isn't as endearing as it used to be for me. We didn't watch it this year and that was fine by me.
