Spin off of @LuvOrlando's thread about trying to find ways to cook fish without stinking up the house. Yet, as much as I love fried eggs, I think the smell of fried eggs lingering in the house is worse. :crazy2: So I haven't fried an egg here in a long time. I will boil them instead. (I will order fried eggs or an omelette when I go to a diner. 🥰 )

Which do you think is worse? Fish or eggs?

Or do you think other cooked food odors are worse than those two?

As long as you don't cook them in the microwave, eggs are fine. I want to kill people at work when they microwave eggs. :crazy2: And it's surprising how fast (overcooking for 30 seconds) microwave popcorn can go from smelling enticing to totally disgusting.

For me though, the absolute worst cooking smell and one that's hard to get rid of, is oven-baking frozen, deep-fried items. The grease smell just lingers and I can smell it for days afterwards.

I can handle fish and egg, it’s Broccoli that I can‘t stand…lol

Out of the 2 you asked I would say fish.

I've never thought cooking eggs smelled bad. Fish definitely leaves a lingering odor and I'd rather go out for corned beef and cabbage (basically St. Patrick's day) than be in any house where cabbage is cooking. Burnt popcorn is a smell that takes forever to go away also...especially when it happens in an office!

I don't thing eggs stink up the house....fish is another deal, but I have a very strong commercial-style fan for my stove. The previous owners gutted this home and put in a commercial stove/vent as she was an avid cook. Worked out well for us as I am too :).

Fish smells worse, but burnt egg gives me a migraine. (My poor husband loves french toast and I make him take the electric skillet onto the patio to kill it. And it is a bad day in our house if someone overcooks their eggs. I ONLY make them hard boiled or poached.

I don't notice any smell when cooking eggs. I fry them in bacon grease after frying that up, so the kitchen already smells like bacon.

I don't eat fish, at least partly because it smells so bad. So I'd say fish is definitely worse.

Eggs can be very stinky but it doesn't linger, fish oil just hangs in the air for so very long so I vote fish.

I got a large Weber fish basket that looks like it will hold a big fish in place outside on the grill but haven't tried it yet. I hope I don't make a giant mushy mess and make all the neighbors with open windows mad, guess we're gonna find out.

Of the two, definitely fish. (And I still like fish in spite of that.)

But the smell I actually leave the kitchen for is Peanut Butter Cup coffee pods. It makes no sense whatsoever, as I love actual peanut butter cups (and peanut butter cup ice cream) but when we buy the assorted K-cups and that one comes in the mix, I can't stand the smell of it brewing.
