???'s about renting points

I am a potential 1st time renter and am not sure where to start or exactly how this works.

I know I need to post a reservation wanted thread on the rent/ trade board but how can I find out the details, like exactly how would you go about paying for this rental. Would all of these transactions be on a cash basis or would a member possibly accept a paypal-credit card transaction?

The "details" you are asking about will vary since you are dealing with individuals. Many will accept PayPal - so if that's your preferred payment method be sure to look for someone willing to do it that way. Otherwise, just be sure you are satisfied with all terms of the transaction before sending any funds.

Ask for (and check) references from the member you want to work with. I'd advise looking at past posts on the DIS to get an idea about their personality. Get address and telephone information so you have a means to contact them.

Thank you for the information. We are currently checking with people we know personally with points to see if they may have points available, but if that doesn't work out I will definitely give the rent/trade board a try.

I checked out your Signature Block. If you are looking for a DVC reservation in December prepare to be disappointed. Availability is very limited.

Actually, we are looking at Sept. which may be a problem because it's a last minute trip. Thanks for the advice though.
