I have never used the babysitting and never could. If I wanted adult fun, I would leave my kids with their grandmother and take an adult trip not, leave them with strangers on a family vacation. Sorry, I don't mean to rip you... clearly you are just gathering information to make an informed choice and I have heard that the Disney services are very good overall. I guess I'm punchy on this one because, my neigbors dump their kid at every chance they get, they recently went to Disney and they said they used the babysitting every night! I'm not even beginning to suggest you are anything like those jerks. But, my opinon stands that there are romantic, couples only trips and family trips and I don't agree with trying to do both, especially when it means leaving your precious children with strangers.

OK - to answer your above question and not give an feisty opinion about it: We have not done it, however it is a third party company called Kids Nite Out. You can check out their website at www.kidsniteout.com

I've only heard good things about it.

I would have considered it, but our plans didn't really allow it this time around. I probably would do it next year. Actually, next year our DD will be 4 so I'll probably do the kids club instead.

We are leaving this month and have set up kids nite out for our trip. For one night. We have never used this service or any other like it. I've heard nothing but good things about them. You should check out their site. The sitters are licensed, bonded, have first aid, security checks, etc. I don't think disney would allow anything less. I believe they are the ones disney uses but i've heard of several others in the area that people use.

I'm a stay at home mom and I think last year we hired our babysitter twice. So as you can imagine a night out is a very special treat.

I love this site, every time I think of a question and go ask its already posted for me, I too want the same and was hoping for some info, I would like just a couple of hours one nite so that hubby and I can go for a walk or something, I checked out the site but it only gives you basic info, would love it if I could get some personal experience from some one who used it, Hubby dosent like the Idea so we probably wont do it but its worth a try!!!!

We used fairy Godmothers last December and Lynn who came to our room was Great. My dd4 still talks about her and ask us if she'll she her again the next time we go! :rotfl2: If you're comfortable with leaving them with a professional sitter then do so. I was going to consider it this time around but we're only in Disney for 5 nights so were not going to do, but if there still around in 2008 I'm going to give them a call!! :cool1: :cool1:

Fairy Godmothers are Great!!!

We always find a way to have an adult night out. By the way you are on vacation too and don't need to leave them with grandma to have a night out.

They are a professional service.

Their phone number is (407) 969-9847 and toll free 877-611-4314

We have had Vivian three times on different trips and she is wonderful!!! She brought with her toys that were appropriate for each of our children.

We usually have them get there about 8:00PM so that the kids are either in bed or about to be in bed.

The first trip we used her the kids were 2, 5 and 8. We had her sit this past spring and they were 4, 7, 10 and 6 months ( yes we had a fourth). One of the highlights for the kids is knowing that they are having a Fairy Godmother one night. And yes in three weeks we will be having Vivian again.

You have to pay for a minimum of four hours, and there travel fee there.

Enjoy and have a great night out!!!

PS Fultons Crab house and PI make for a great night out....

We have used them also and they were great!

My sister was married at Disney and she could not afford to include children. She also really did not want to have them at the service, so a few of us shared 2 sitters. It worked great! They brought toys and videos. I think it was the only afternoon the entire trip that my 2 year old twins took a nap!

I get very angry when people start to lecture what is right or wrong with leaving children. Sometimes there are specific reasons that people want a sitter. At home the kids usually are watched by my mom but she was a little busy that day! Myself and my DD were in the wedding. Our choice was to leave the boys with a sitter, or not attend my sisters wedding.

Everyone needs to do what works for them. For us using the in-room sitters worked great!

Go ahead and be angry. She asked for opinons. I gave mine, not really sure that's lecturing...simply a belief, an opinion. I'll never leave my babies alone with a stranger, not for a second...ever. Your opinon is certainly just as valid as mine, if you are fine with leaving your children with a complete stranger well, by all means...

To the person who originally posted...I simply gave my opinon of the idea, looking back I guess you wanted an opinion on the services offered. Since I have not used the service, naturally, I can not comment on that other than hearing other folks saying it worked for them. So sorry if I made you feel bad. I guess this is one of those situatons where you think something and then you DON'T say it, even if you really to feel it's true. I sincerely do apologize, I'm still working on that skill life skill! I do hope you have a great trip.

We've used in room care for years. They are very good. DS never wants us to go without him and we usually include him. HOwever, it's hard to make a couple with three

Shellynn - How old is your daughter? To use the kids clubs, I think they have to be 4 yrs old.

While we've never used the in-room sitters, we have used Simba's Clubhouse at AKL and Cub's Den at WL. DH & I had dinner at Jiko and used Simba's, and dinner at Artist Point and used Cub's Den. My DD had a really good time playing with the other kids and coloring with markers! She got to pick what she wanted for dinner (chicken tenders, FF, and chocolate milk). She was only there for an hour (once for an hour and a half), but had a great time!

She's also done the Alice In Wonderland Tea Party, the Cooking Class, and the Pirates Cruise. She really enjoyed them, especially the Tea Party!

Good luck with your decision! Have a great trip!!!!

I thought about putting my son into one of the kids clubs because he is 4 this year, but my daughter is just 20 months. I'll be going with my friend because my husband is in Iraq, and she will have her 6 month old too. I think in roon babysitting is the best for us, now we just need to pick the company. We might end up not going because the prices are a bit beyond what the Army paycheck will cover :earseek: .

I changed my mind, Amyality, I am going to comment. I wanted to say that I did ask for opinions and you are absolutely entitled to yours. Thank you for being honest. After 6 months of being home alone with my kids, my husband is in Iraq, I absolutely need some time away from them. I love them dearly, but I'm going crazy without my husband to help me with them :crazy2: !

We have used Fairy Godmothers twice for our son, who has autism, and they are GREAT. We will use them again this year. They are licensed, bonded, etc and are all mothers/grandmothers. Most of them have been babysitting Disney kids for YEARS. They are probably better than the sitter you use at home.

As far as leaving kids...we aren't all so lucky to have parents with us, etc. We love trips with DS to Disney, but he can be very difficult and we really do deserve a night out (as do you!). Go for it, your child will be fine. The people who criticize wouldn't think twice about leaving their kid at a daycare center, pre-school, etc at home where you don't know the folks either. As a parent you investigate, choose carefully, get reviews etc but at some point you have to trust and have a break. :flower: You're not just leaving you're kid with "someone you don't know", you are leaving them with a VERY reputable company with a solid reputation and fully investigated employees. I would feel very safe with either Fairy Godmothers or Kids Nite Out. (And of course you pay quite a lot for that security, because you care about your kids.)

We used "Kid's Night Out" in May for 1 night so my wife and I could have an adult dinner and a late night at EMH in Epcot.

We plan on using them again for this upcoming trip (That reminds me that I have to call them this week!)

We got a college girl who was very nice, brought crayons and coloring books which my kids love, and we great with the kids. We had her show up earlier than needed so that we could spend some time with her, see her interacting with the kids, and feel comfortable with her. If we didn't feel comfortable with her, we would have cancelled our plans and sent her on her way.

Wow, that sounds like a couple I know at work. Where do you live? The sad thing is that these people have just had another baby. The woman in particular galls me--she leaves most of the day to day childcare, other than breastfeeding, to dad. Come to think of it, they aren't Disney type of people. They have a two year old son, and drove to Grand Canyon from Indianapolis with him. Now, what is a twp year old going to remember about the Grand Canyon. I think my seven year old is a little two young for that particular trip. They haven't been to Disney, not sure if they will ever go. The older child, above, will be three in October, and he's too young, according to them. So, he will be at least seven before they even consider it. Sad, I just shake my head.

As a Disneyaholic, I don't understand how anyone can not be a Disneyaholic :earseek: I just love it a WDW and try not to miss a chance to go :cloud9: . And I could never go to FL without taking my kids. That has a lot to do with Nana and Papa living there though. I think my parents would be a little mad if I went all the way to FL and didn't bring their grandkids.

A side note: I could not leave them with Nana and Papa because they don't live in Orlando.

Can someone tell me roughly how much using one of these services costs?

I would love to just have one dinner out with my dh. We have no days off together unless one of us takes off. I work the first half of the week and he works the latter so that one of us is always home with the kids. I can't remember the last time just the 2 of us went out on a date. WDW would be a great place to have that happen.
