??'s about borrowed pts..please help!!

I made a ressie needing 319pts for Feb/04 using:

34 banked
170 current year
115 borrowed from 04 use year (Use Year Begins March fyi)


I recently changed my dates to a lower season requiring 256 pts using

34 banked
170 current year
52 borrowed from '04 use year

I've never borrowed before and just noticed in my new handbook that it says Borrowed Pts
-cannot be returned to their original use year
-cannot be transferred or banked
-transactions are final

The agent did not say anything about the difference in points and where my 63 point difference went. So where are my 63 borrowed pts?

I think I answered my question...

"Once borrowed, vacation points cannot be returned to their ORIGINAL use year and will expire if not used by the end of the CURRENT use year" from the old handbook.

I still need to make a ressie for 1 more person in my party (for 36 pts) soit sounds like I can use the "borrowed pts" and only lose 27 pts.

Guess I can't sell them. It says you can't transfer to another member. I guess I could make the ressie for someone for 1-2 nights in a studio??

Does this all sound correct?? I'm going to call but I get all confused on the phone and prefer to see things in writing.

Hi Disfam95,

Instead of using 170 pts form current year, can you use 143 pts and transfer the remaining 27 pts to next year? If this is allowable, you can use up the entire 115 borrowed points from 2004 and not having it go to waste. Hope it will work out for you. Good luck.

Call on Monday and make sure they first used up all of your borrowed points for the reservation. If so, that should leave 63 2004 points, which you will be able to bank into 2005. You shouldn't have to lose any points.

HBC - By reading the manual it says you cannot bank borrowed pts so I'm fearing my 63 '04 pts that I borrowed into '03 will have to be used by the end of my '03 use year (which is 2/04). I have to make 1 more studio ressie for a friend so that will use up some of it. I'll call Monday and report back!

The points that are banked and the points you have borrowed are the points you MUST use by the end of the curretn Use Year- since they cannot be banked. Most likely, the points you borrowed previously were used for the revised reservation, but it would be wise to call MS and check.

The 256 point reservation you have right now should use the 34 banked points and the 115 borrowed points plus 107 current points. Any remaining current points you have (March 2003 Use Year) must be used by Feb 29, 2004 or banked. You can still bank up to 50% of your total points by November 30, 2003. It looks like you should be fine.

They should have used the banked and borrowed points first. Have them substitute the borrowed points for the current use year points then bank what you don't need or as many as they will let you. Good luck.

Just called MS and they did use my borrowed pts first. Leaving me with current pts to use up by Feb. Since it was past my 100% banking deadline and I was at 50% now I upgraded my inlaws from a studio to a 1bdrm and got my sil a studio (she was paying her own).. so scored some pts with the family.
