We're going to Alabama for vacation and coming home via Atlanta. Spending the night at hilton Garden Inn with the doll bed package and dining at american Girl Bistro next day. I have a few ?s. Does anybody know what kind of bed you get with the package and what is in the gift basket that's included?
We're celebrating both girl's Birthdays at lunch in the Bistro and reserved the birthday party for our family. Just the one that includes cake , icecream and treat bags. Has anybody done this? What's included in the treatbags. I know it may be totally different at different times. Just curious. Also is it slices of cake or a small cake? Any suggestions as to waittimes on a sunday in June? Our resies are for 11, so we'll want to get dolls hair done after that.
Thanks

we are going to the same store in early June and I would LOVE to know more aboutit as well....what hotels are walking distance sine i have to share the car w/ DH and DS who will NOT want to go? Are there items to purchase that are under $25 or $30? Under $15?

Prices are basically the same as what you see on line or in the catalog. There is a huge selection of AG books as well. (Both the ones about the historical characters and the other kind.)

At that time of day on Sunday, waits shouldn't be to bad. After you eat, drop the dolls off at the salon immediately. As the day progresses, it will get busier.

I am local so know nothing about the hotel package, but saw a cake being delivered to a table and it was, at the time, a whole round cake. It was beautiful.

Look for hotels that say North Point Mall. Make sure it has a shuttle. Your DH can also drop you off and/or pick you up.

I think AG stuff is expensive, but as long as you go knowing this, you will be fine.

I took my DD to Chicago about 18 months ago and did the hotel package. I don't know if it is the same bed in Atlanta now, but the one DD received then was a pink "fuzzy" futon type bed (that folded into a chair) that came with a pillow and blanket (the blanket was pink satiny material on one side and white cotton - like a sheet - on the other). It is 6 or 8 inches wide and opens to be long enough for the 18" doll to sleep on. It is not available for purchase anywhere, just as part of this promotion

Have a wonderful time!

My dd and I stayed at the La Quinta in Alpharetta and it was very close to the mall that the AG store is in. It was a lovely motel with clean rooms and a nice pool. They offer free breakfast which was also very good. I would definitely recommend it to someone going to the AG store and looking for a place to stay for the night.

HTH!

Are there items to purchase that are under $25 or $30? Under $15?

As a PP said, the standard items are the same price as in the catalog (plus tax of course). Outfits are mostly in the $25-30 range, but there are shoes, earrings (ear piercing in the salon was $14), some hair things, books... would be in the under $20 range.

I've not been to Atlanta, just Minneapolis, but they do also have store exclusive items- Tshirts (a la "American Girl Mall of America"), jeans, little hair things... around $10. There was also a vacation outfit (shorts, sandals, tshirt) that was $15. Supposedly only with a $40 purchase, but I've heard of folks just buying it on its own.

I booked a birthday party for my daughter in Chicago--I don't know if it is the same in Atlanta.

The cake was beautiful. It looked just like the ones they have on the website about birthdays. It was really good too. The ice cream came in the flower pots that they usually have pudding in. We received the whole cake. It was too much for us so the put the rest in a togo container.

The treat bags included a American Girl Place Chicago T-shirt for the doll, a small paper back book titled "The Best that I Can Be, Inspiring words for American Girls" (it had pictures and excepts from various AG books), a notepad and stickers. Everyone in the party received one (it was me, DD and my mom), so DD got them all. I thought it was very nice.

She also received a birthday card, the staff made a big deal of parading through the restaurant and singing happy birthday to her and she and her doll received paper tiaras.

We also had a great table location. Not sure if that was due to having a birthday or not.

Check the Marriott right next to the mall. We took DD there last summer and they give some free things with the American Girl package. You would have to get them to double the freebies since you have two girls but worth it to check it out. It was a nice hotel.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I can't wait to go. My girls will be so excited to celebrate with their dolls. Obviously, nothing beats a vacation at Disney, but we just can't afford that this year, so at least we can do a little something special together. Hopefully the Hilton Garden Inn will be a nice hotel. I know they'll love their doll beds and accessories and the party bags at the Bidstro sound nice.
