I have never used Allegiantair. I was able to find some cheaper tickets there this time. I noticed that they charge $11 to selet a seat. If i pay that extra money then it will bring the prices right back up to all the other airlines prices.
I have a 7yo and i don't want her sitting by herself. If i don't pay the extra will they make her sit alone if the seats are limited.

No, you will be able to sit together. Remember though, the3 DME does not provide service to the airport that Allegiant Air services.

I would have $11 in my pocket, just in case. If I paid an extra $11 to reserve a certain seat, that would make me less likely to switch and be out my $11, KWIM?

We flew in Dec. 06 with 3 kids, didn't reserve seats, and we each sat with a kid or two in separate areas. But I had some cash in my pocket just in case we would be seated by ourselves. ;)

I have flown Allegiant several times and really like them. I would not pay for the seating, my family has always been together.
I would rent a car and drive to Disney, not a bad drive if you take 417. You will have about $5.00 in tolls on 417. Return the car when you get to Disney and get another one for the return trip. There are several DTD hotels that have rental counters in their lobbys.

We've used Allegiant a few times and have been satisfied. I always paid for the reserved seats and our last trip with them was before they instituted the baggage fees. The downside for Allegiant is that they fly into Sanford. It's a very nice little airport, but I love Magical Express. When flying into Sanford, we always rent a car. It's not a bad drive to the resorts. From Sanford we've had to drive to Saratoga Springs, PO and POP. No problems getting to any. I run Yahoo or Google maps from SFB to the resort and the maps are good.

what is the best & cheapest way to get from that airport to pop century
If you select an airline that serves Orlando International Airport, you can use Disney's Magical Express for free ground transportation and inbound baggage service.

If you use an airline that serves only Orlando Sanford Airport, be prepared to rent a car or use a towncar/limo service. The towncar/limo rates from Orlando Sanford are higher than from Orlando International because the distance to WDW is greater from Orlando Sanford.

Allegiant+Car rental is cheaper than any other airline we found. The best part is that it is a direct flight for us.

That might be true from some cities.

The OP wrote, "If i pay that extra money then it will bring the prices right back up to all the other airlines prices."

If Allegiant Air is only $11 per person cheaper from the OP's airport, then picking an airline that flies into Orlando International and using Magical Express is probably the most economical solution.

This is the airlines my inlaw want to try in October. I didn't realize there was a $11 per person charge for choosing a seat. Is that for each way? So is it $22 total for a round trip. Also, what are the baggage fees. I couldn't find on the website where it says. It just states that they charge a fee per person, per bag, per leg of the flight. With 10 of us going those fees could really add up.

my brother was flighting a school group down in april 08 and was just called and told they were no longer flying out of ABE, Allentown PA not sure when they are stopping service, so all may want to check to see if you still have a flight, if it is really true it is very sad this area is really into going to florida.....

best of luck

Allegient is the best and most economical way to fly to WDW IMO. We flew into Orlando International via Ohare for many years and always had to deal with delays...delays...delays not to mention crowd hassle and drive time. We love the smaller regional airport environment and with our savings alone on the airport parking (free), treat ourselves to a limo to/from ASMo. Sure there are fees here and there, but you'll find that on the major airlines as well. I've never paid the seat fee and we've be seated all 4 together and sometimes 2 by 2; never alone. There is a per bag fee--that's on their website. All in all, a very relaxing way to begin and end any trippopcorn:: :surfweb: :cool2: princess:

That's one thing to think about when flying these small airlines. They could decide to stop flying from a certain airport at a moment's notice. Also, if they run into financial trouble, they will usually just stop flying. They don't fly in bankruptcy like the majors do.

If the price is the same, I would fly an airline that will take you to MCO.

Using Allegient will save us at least half of what we spent last year including the additional charges. Plus they are the only ones offering a direct flight from our local airport. Will plan on renting a limo to transport us to & from the airport & will still come out much cheaper than using another airline. Sanford is farther away from our resort but when you factor in waiting for everyone to get loaded on ME I'm sure it won't take us any longer to get to our resort. Allegient has actually added an additional flight to Orlando from our airport & they have only offered the service for 10 months.

We've flown Allegiant several times and really like it. It's the only convenient non-stop for us, too. I strongly recommend that you rent a car instead of using the limo. We've always been able to rent a car for about the same price as the limo, but even if it cost a bit more I would rent a car. (Check mousesavers.com for rental car discount codes.) The drive from Sanford to WDW is easy (takes just over 1 hour), and it is great to have a car while we're there, even if it just sits in the resort parking lot most of the time.

Also be aware that Allegiant recommends that you arrive at Sanford 2 1/2 hours before your flight, and you really need to. They close the ticket counter 45 minutes before the flight.

I've flown Allegiant 4 times and due to its changing and testing airport markets, you can't bank on being able to fly out of "XYZ" airport 14 months from now. But you can generally plan on being able to fly up until the point that tickets are sold online. (I understand that Allentown being shutdown earlier is an exception to this, but I don't think that is usual). I think that's also a reason for why Allegiant doesn't put their travel dates up as far out as other airlines do.

Having said that, Allegiant's planes are great. Service is always fine. All my flights have always been on time. And twice, I've flown Round-Trip with Children (either 1 or 2yrs old and 4 or 5yrs old at the time). And I've just booked my third trip with children. I've flown twice roundtrip for business by myself.

I've never bought reserved seats, but maybe that's because our route isn't generally full. I've never had problems sitting with my children.

You can look at what the seat availability is like...if it's really full...then pay the $11 each way; if not, then don't. Now if you're booking really early (i.e. 3-4 months in advance, then this advice might not be practical). Which brings up another point.

Allegiant is great for last minute trips, because generally they lower their prices the closer you get to the travel date. Again, if you're flying on a particular popular route, this might not be the case.

But for example, I just booked 4 tickets for early February at $29 to SFB and $29 back. You can't beat that; no matter if you add in luggage costs, fees, and reserved seating. Just a week ago, one of those fares was $74. But I checked the seating (and saw that there were still plenty of seats available on the plane--only 26 were sold), so I opted to wait and BINGO...the price dropped and I scooped up 4 tickets. So 4 of us fly for $340 ($85 each Roundtrip) total round trip including fees, 4 pieces of luggage total (no reserved seats)....NON-STOP.

I booked a full-size car through Alamo for a week and after a $25 off weekly rental coupon code and the Walmart Code, my full-size car is $124.99 (equivalent to $17.86/day); granted the price increases with fees and everything, but still, my rental for a week in a full-size (Pontiac Grand Prix or similar) is $173.01.

We then have the option if we need to run to a Walgreens, or want to go to Sea World, or even if we just want to drive to a WDW park. I love the flexibility. And I don't have to wait on DME or get my bags ready by the crack of dawn, so for me, I love the flexibility of having a rental car.

I'm hoping this is a joke. I have reservations to fly out of Allentown with them for April 25th! I just checked their web site, as well as Lehigh Valley International airport web site, and you seem to be able to make reservations for the rest of the year yet.

This is going to really freak me out until I can find out for sure!

Ok, responding to my own post here. Looks like, according to be able to book flights, Allegient is flying out of Allentown through mid May, which would include our dates. Not that that makes me feel a whole lot better though.

Good Lord, I WAS in a good mood, and now I'm going to be freaked out until we leave worrying over our flight getting cancelled.

DH and I are flying Allegiant for the first time in April. We did pay to reserve seats because we were able to get the emergency exit rows and felt the extra room was worth the money. Our fares ending up comparable in cost to the best deals on some other airlines. We are most excited about the fact that we will have a direct flight and not have to worry about connections.
