Ok, I'm lucky enough to work at a company in an IT department that is pretty flexible with it's hours. I work 4 long days and have off on Wednesday(I know, weird day - but it works out in the schedule).

Since DW only works tuesday-Thursday this means that DD is only at daycare two days a week, which is great.

So I'm at Target yesterday at about 9:30am picking up some things for DW, DD in her car seat in the cart. I stopped to watch Monsters Inc for a little bit (I love Target for that) at the front of the store and another lady (SAHM?) stops next to me to let her 3 yr old watch too. She asks if we already had it, I told her we were at TDS the day it came out. :D:D Then she says "It's nice that you are able to be a Stay at Home Dad, I'm sure your daughter will appreciate it." Huh? I told her that I have a flexible schedule and only have one day off with her. Confused, I said bye! and went to check out.

Do I look the part of a SAHD? It just seemed really weird to me that she would assume that. I've never seen her before, so it's not as if she's seen me in the Target before. hmmmmmmm

It's the time of day you were there, not the way you look.

How DOES a SAH person look?

Inquiring minds need to know.....;)

Maybe you should have worn your jeans, instead of your sweat pants!!!!:p

You're shopping with your young child in the middle of the day. How big of a leap is it that you are a stay at home Dad? She was probably just trying to make pleasant conversation. And why the frowny face? There's nothing wrong or unpleasant about being a SAHD is there?

it's not the frowny face. :( It's the confused face.

I don't know what a 'SAH' person looks like. I LOVE the fact that I can stay home with DD and that DW can also.

I call it my special daddy time.

It just seemed an odd way to break into conversation. Yeah, she mentioned the DVD first... I dunno what I expected her to say, etc... It just struck me as weird.

And I wasn't wearing sweat pants, thank you very much! :D:D:D

I think that was a strange assumption on her part. She didn't even to think that hospital workers work week-ends & nights, as well as firemen and policemen. They gotta have some time off!

She HAD to be hitting on you!

Its just women's intuition :)

Believe me, I dont know why, but its true women can spot a gay guy, a single guy, a divorced "weekend dad", a married guy and a SAHD all within seconds!

Its true, I tell ya! :)

Maybe she has been checkng you out.:earseek:

ROFLMAO.... If I were drinking a soda Id've sprayed it all over the computer screen. Ahh.... what a good laugh.

My first thought was she was flirting too... Maybe wishing her DH might stay home with his kids once in a while...

My dh has a flexible schedule as well and he says that women are always looking at him strangely. He spent a lot of time at the pool this summer with our boys and most of the mommies treated him like he was an alien. He decided they are all just confused because there hubbies are never home! :smooth:

I'm betting she was trying to pick you up, or flirt. Maybe next time you should go ahead and die your hair lime green again. That should stop the pick up lines! ;)
