Hi RVUSA,

I have read several of your posts and noted when you stayed out at Fort Wilderness recently. We just got back and I had alot of problems with the internet and trying to hook up our wireless modem. I do not recall if you used the Disney internet or had an air card. Did you have any problems? I am thinking about getting an air card, as I was not able to get email for over a week!!

Thanks

I am pretty sure he had a air card

Thanks - I thought it would be easier to set up the wireless modem, but it did not work very well. We were really out of touch for a week - which I guess is the point, but I was not expecting to be unable to send or receive email for such a long time.

Yeah, we had an air card from AT&T, we tried it for a month and took it back. It worked great at the fort, but doesn't work at our house, we are in the boonies. LOL We didn't try the wireless at the fort, so I can't help you there. If you have any more questions, just let me know.

Thanks - We live out a little bit too, so I am not sure if the air card would work at home - I will have to look into it.

I read your other post about working on your website. I just had someone call me today from an rv renting website. I can try and find his info, maybe he could be a potential paying advertiser!!

if you can get cellphone service at your location, an air card is just a cellphone in your computer...i have one and love it!

I get decent cellphone service, so I will try the air card. I like the idea of having internet access wherever I bring my laptop!

oh, it is soooo nice...i have had one for a while because i like being on the dis boards during my lunch break and would rather the school board not know where i am on the internet....

When we were there we couldn't get our wireless to work either. We too are looking into an air card. I just don't want to pay $60 a month for something I don't know if I will use that much.

Funny!! Work has been so busy lately that it has been a couple of weeks since I have visited the forum. I have missed alot. We are still kind of on vacation, so I now have a chance to relax and log in to see what I missed.

i originally questioned the 60 bucks a month as well, but it seems that my laptop now follows me everywhere...waiting for the doctor, dentist, it becomes obsessive, these boards do....

I agree - I will have to think it over. I really like to be connected even when I am camping. We are not planning another trip for at least a month, so I have a little time to decide.

Yeah, that gives you some time to shop. I don't have the same carrier for my phone as my air card. A better deal is a better deal!

We are up to renew our cell phones in July. I may see if I can get a decent package deal. If not, I will shop around and possibly get different carriers. I have heard that Verizon has the best air card. Is this the carrier that you use??

No, I have Sprint. Verizon was still more expensive when I got my card. The plan is almost up. That gives you an idea that I have had it more than 2 years.

I LOVE having an air card. Fortunately work provides it for me.

I plan to do the "Try it for a month" , then come up with some lamo excuse to return it when we get back from Disney....god, Im so cheap and dishonest!!!

I did not even know you could do that. That would have been cheaper than the $9.95 a day and I may actually have been able to get email. Although, I think once I have it - I will really like it and keep it.

I always feel the need to point out that if you have verizon for cell phone service they also offer internet by tethering your phone to the laptop. Your cell phone acts as the modem. No service plan/contract is needed. You simply pay around $60/mo for unlimited use when you need it. (Not all phones are compatible) For me, it works great..... I only have need for it 2-3 months in the winter when we travel south.
