We have made the life changing choice to sell our house to our daughter buy a fifth wheel and travel the country with three of our children. We plan on spending Jan, Feb & Mar around Florida. In fact we have already made reservations for a premium site at FW for the entire month of Feb. We are looking for a few nice RV campgrounds within an hour or so of WDW for the rest of the time. Many of the reviews I have read online mention that many of the area campgrounds are small an dated so the search continues. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Dear OP, If there isn't a specific reason why you want to stay within 1 hour of WDW, why not camp near the beach? There are lots of state parks in FL. I am interested in Anastasia State Park near St. Augustine (2 hours away from WDW).

In Titusville there is a beautiful RV resort. The Great Outdoors Golf and RV Resort. My parents and brother live there. It is amazing.

I don't know how far you want to be from Disney, but if a 90 minute drive is not too far you can check the website for Beverly Beach Campground. It's right on the Atlantic Ocean in a little town "Beverly Beach", FL. Although the sites are close together, the view can't be beat. Really nice to wake up and see the sun come up with your coffee and take a swim.

Lots to see in the area: St Augustine is a short drive and a really nice city to explore. Can actually spend a few days on St. George Street alone. Flagler beach is right down the road and has a great fishing pier, beach, and restaurants. Daytona Beach a 20 min. ride south and has been recently updated and so nice with great boardwalk shops, restaurants and rides on the boardwalk. And, you can drive and park on the beach in Daytona. If you like auto racing, Daytona Speedway offers tours of the track almost daily. Just some thoughts.

I would have to second Nan P. I love staying at Beverly Beach though we have skipped it the past two years. We love being so close you hear the waves over the traffic of A1A. We usually got ocean access sites, though if we do the planned 2-3 night stay I might opt for oceanfront site just to look out the back window on the Atlantic.
