Ruth's Chris Steak House

My parents ate there last weekend & 2 meals , with veggies and salad was under $100!
She had seafood, he had steak and no wine.
Maybe some locations are pricier than others?:confused3

They run specials (ie) for early dining between 4:30-5:30 - a set price menu that includes salad & dessert.

We didn't have the set menu, and I think what got us was the side dishes, they are like 8-10 dollars each!

I've eaten there a couple of times but my bill was nowhere near that high :scared1:

I had never heard of them until it was mentioned on the local news that one is being built here soon. Sounds like we'll definately have to save it for a special occasion!

How funny! We were there last Monday! We actually had a $75 gift card, so we only paid a little over $100, I think, but I wasn't aware of an early bird! We were there at like 5:30 because I was starving after a doctor's appoinment, and there was no mention of it!

Anyway, the Porterhouse for 2 (rare/medium rare) was ammmmazing, the asparagus with hollandaise I would skip (disappointing!), and the mushrooms were the best I've had in a restaurant! Our bill would have been less, but my dh was enjoying his scotch a little too much, and I think that ended up being like $12 a drink! :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 It was only my second time there, and I remember not loving it the first time, so I'm glad a gift card got us back! I still think Morton's has them on a "true" steak, but it's a different preparation, so it's hard to really compare them. And how can steak smothered in butter be wrong??:lovestruc

We took my dad there for his 65th birthday. We did order two bottles of wine for the 6 adults that were there (three kids under 21). We didn't hold back on what we wanted to order - in fact we ordered a lot of sides to try them. Our bill for the 9 of us averaged about $60-$75pp if I remember correctly.

Its a very low-key kind of place. Very subdued, private feeling. The waitstaff called us Mrs. xx or Mr. xx. Very personal service. Low lighting, hushed kind of atmosphere.

We've eaten at some world class steak houses and although wonderful, I can't say it was significantly head and shoulders above the rest. I will say that they got our orders cooked perfectly and we had the full range of well-done to rare.

I wouldn't say it's the very best steak I've had, but it's close:) It is a treat for special occasions. I don't believe we've ever paid quite that much but don't really recall the tab.

Gees I totally agree. DH and I go every year on our anniversary, not for the early dinner but at 7:30-8pm usually.

We both get steak, appetizer and split a side because they are plenty big enough to share. Plus we do have a drink or 2 and our bill has never been over $130.00.

$500.00 :scared1:

I had a great deal. There was a company soliciting business (they are involved with investments, annuities, and insurance for let's say older people. I signed up to go on Friday (two days ago) and there were about 100 people attending. It was at the Ruth's Chris in the Dr. Phillips area of Orlando.

Besides having iced tea or other non-alcoholic beverages (with refills) during the two hour seminar, we then had complete diners:

Mixed Greens Salad with Balsaminc Vinegarette

Choice of 8oz Filet (which I had, and it was MR which was what I asked for) or Fresh Salmon Filet or Stuffed Chicken Breast along with Creamed Spinich and Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Ended up with Fresh Berries in Sweet Cream.

I don't know what the company paid for it, but figure on 100 meals plus gratuity and tax equals a real lot of money (and they were having two of the seminars this week). And from what I saw most of the people were ordering the Filets.

RC was my pick for a meal the night before my surgery in February. My parents were impressed. My kids liked it and my DH was happy with it. As the "guest of honor," I was not as impressed with this as I've been in the past.

What I will say is that they immediately replaced my overcooked filet with one that was just scared a little by the grill. :thumbsup2 I was just disappointed that if they'd have to screw up someone's dinner that it had to be mine considering the surgery and all.

We ate there for the first time last week. We will never go back. I had to send my steak back 4 times as it was still raw! The 4th time I told them to just keep it. The first time they got my steak and my MIL's mixed up. I like mine pink w/no red, she likes red (but not raw). Mine was a bit undercooked for her but managable. Her's was raw (literally). So I gave her mine and sent the other one back (because she tends to throw a fit if she isn't satisfied). The 3rd time I got it back it was almost right but not. By then I was a) so disgusted by looking at this raw meat over and over and b) dissapointed that everyone was about done and I hadn't even started, I just gave up.

We have an awsome steak place literally across the street so we will continue to go there. In 11 years I've never had to send my steak back, never.

Our bill for 4 adults and two kids, and 2-3 glasses of wine (and no entree for me) was $192.

Nobody came and refolded our napkins, all the glasses on the table were dirty. It was truly one of the most horrible meals we've ever had.

Ruth's Chris is yuuumy! Cass (or any one else), dDid they scrape your tablecloth w/ their special table scraper? Their meat is top notch :thumbsup2

Yes, they used the cute little crumb scraper :) and I love how the lemons came wrapped in a sheer fabric to strain the seeds when you squeezed it, so pretty!

We just ate there Saturday. :goodvibes
It was yummmmyyyyy !!

There were 4 of us. 3 of us had steaks, I had halibut. omg...soo good. it was nuts/panko crumb crusted.
we had 2 sides of mashed pots for the table.
we had shrimp cocktail and 6 drinks total for the table.

our bill was $240 for the 4 of us. was fantastic meal.:goodvibes

I'm glad you had such a wonderful meal Cass :goodvibes (I miss posting with you btw)

We ate there for our birthday last year. The steak was wonderful. But the cheesecake    :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

It was a pricey meal (I didn't even ask DH how much it came out to) but we don't eat at places like that often. Usually less than once a year and for a special occasion.

We've had meals at Ruth's since the 60's when it first opened in a New Orleans suburb. I agree that the food is delicious. The pricing must be a restaurant by restaurant issue because we've never paid that much for a meal- ~$150.00 with drinks.

It sounds like they ordered a lot of sides, which will drive up the cost.

I always wanted to eat there, but I thought that since I don't eat red meat it would just be a waste. However, it sounds like there are good fish entrees, so now I have to rethink it. :)
