Rut Row from Super Soap

First of all let me explain, other that Susan Lucci, I have no idea who these people are, or what shows they are on. I only go as a favor for a friend, and well when lunch at the Brown Derby is thrown in, who can refuse.

So, onto the gossip...

We are walking around taking pics, and we stop at some show they have in front of the BAH where people can ask the stars questions. The stars are from AMC and someone asks a star (who I assume plays a lesbian on the show) about her character development, the star is second from the left in this pic....

So she starts going on about the only reason she is on the show is because she was promised her character could get married, and she is really really disappointed in what happened in CA and FL with the amendments. Well about 45 seconds into her speech, everyone on stage grabs their ear is if someone is screaming into their earpieces! The actress says..."Oops sorry" and one of the actors acts totally shocked and says "Good God, who was that...Walt Disney?" And the conversation was very quickly dropped and moved onto a different soap star. So I guess discussing these things is not encouraged in public at a Disney function.

We did manage to get great seats in the Brown Derby, La Lucci was at the table next to us, and little did I know because my back was turned, but Sherri Sheppard was at the table behind us!

It's also funny to notice who is drinking what! LOL Lucci, tea, from china, others coffee from styrofoam! That kid from GH, tons of orange soda!

The woman is Eden Riegel(sp?) who plays Bianca, daughter of Erika Kane (Susan Lucci) I didnt watch All My Children when the story first rolled years ago, but there was a whole gay storyline with Bianca as a teen. I think Erika tried to send her to a shrink to "cure" her back in the day, but she got a clue. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bianca_Montgomery) Bianca has a new story line where she and her partner just had a baby (her brother in law was the donor but her sister doesn't know because she's in a coma because of the tornado!) Bianca and her partner just got engaged in the last couple weeks.

The guy is Cameron Matthison. He did a stint on Dancing with the Stars. He plays Ryan Lavery on All My Children. His character is a tool, but that just may be my opinion!

I have no clue about ABC soaps. I was raised on CBS soaps, but I haven't watched in over a decade. When I was home post-op from the gallbladder surgery this summer, I was shocked at how much had and had not changed in my absence.

I am glad that you had a good time. I am happy that the actress started out with an honest commentary, even if the Mouse didn't allow it to continue. I am not surprised that it was stopped, but I am still a little sad at the same time.

At least you had the chance at evil eye candy and a cobb salad to take away the sting.

Wow - I was at the first ever Soap weekend when it was in October! Was a big GH fan back then in 96! Anyway glad to hear it was fun. The stars didn't eat with the regular folk back then LOL!

Many moons ago I watched all 3 of the ABC soaps every day. Some of these folks I recognize. Susan Lucci, Cameron Whoever (from DWTS, not from a soap), Vincent Irizarry (because he was on Guiding Light when I was in middle school, which means he is OLD), Erica Slezak from OLTL. Don't know any of the others, and I don't watch soaps anymore.

Mike, hope your lunch was fabulous!

Interesting about the stars not being allowed to talk about their opposition to Prop 8 & Amendment 2. I guess they need a little disclaimer that the views expressed by stars are not necessarily the views of ABC blah blah blah.

OMG I can't believe I am going to admit to this (and if any of you tell......well I guess who would you tell ) I do watch them. I have since I was born. I blame it on my Mother. I watch AMC, OLTL and then I switch to CBS for Guiding light. I tivo so all three usually take me 40 minutes to watch!!! My girlfriend hates it!! (But I hate watching the NFL network 24/7 so we are even!)

I hope the story line actually is semi believable (after all this is a soap!) and they show the wedding. We shall see.

I used to run home from the bus stop every day after school so I could watch GL.

When I had my very first nanny job the baby napped during soap time, so I got hooked. When my boss had her 2nd baby we were all sitting around watching OLTL one day. Laurel drove her car off a cliff, it rolled down and then it exploded. My boss looked over and said "If she lives, you really need to stop watching this show." Of course she lived!

I loved Lujack!!! I think that is why i like David so much on AMC! I also ran home and watched with my Mom before I did my homework. I loved snow days becasue then I would see all of them! Otherwise i would have to depend on the vcr if my mom recorded them!

I stopped watching soaps quite awhile ago so unless the stars have been on the shows since the early 90's I don't know them.
Every once in awhile I will be flipping channels and catch a glimpse of someone and think "OMG! That person is STILL on that soap?!"

Every once in awhile I will be flipping channels and catch a glimpse of someone and think "OMG! That person is STILL on that soap?!"

I wish I could say that!! I have two "sicknesses" one is Disney and the other is my soaps. Neither really fit into the rest of my life!
