Russia WS Rumor is back

Sounds neat if it happens. Any new country added to the showcase would be a good thing. But personally I've always wanted a Greece pavilion.

That would be awesome! Bring on the spanakopitas and gyros!!

No one is saying where it might end up. Where would they put it? All of the pictures I've seen show it back behind a few exhibits.

If you follow this link to google maps.. You'll see a large plot of unoccupied land beside Germany. That would be at least ONE place that could be considered.

my first thought when i read this rumor was "where would they put any new country?". well after looking at this map there seems to be ample room for a substantial addition of a new country and even an additional ride to go with a pavillion.

After YEARS of "another country is coming to Epcot" rumors ,I'm certainly not holding my breath on this one.
But as Robo so thoughtfully suggested--if it IS Russia,what sort of restaurant would they have? I just can't get enough of Red Beet soup , but then what???

Just off the top of my head in addition to borscht: caviar, blinis, pierogies and stroganoff. And if they can have a tequila bar on Mexico, then I guess they'll have vodka in Russia.

I have to agree with Diznygrl and would look more forward to something themed with Greece or maybe even Ireland. Seems to me that there would be alot more food options with those places, as well as, character themed merchandise, i.e. Hercules and Darby O'Gill. Just think of the buildings that Greece could put in Epcot; Mount Olympus and Hades! Think of the all the greek mythology; Hercules, Hades, the Trojan War, Cerebus, the Argonauts. Now think of all the food, more importantly, think of...Ouzo!!!
What ever country it turns out to be, it will be a much needed update to the World Showcase!

While I think Greece or Ireland would be a great addition we already have England and Italy which have a lot in common with these two. More importantly everyone has to realize that Money is the important factor to consider and at the present time Money is one thing Russia is one thing they have a lot of and it's one thing that neither Greece nor Ireland have much of. Also they are not many companies (none that I know of) based in either Greece or Ireland with deep pockets.

I think Russia would be an amazing choice for the WS. Not simply because the WS is in need of something new, but because there is very little eastern European representation in WS. It makes a lot of sense financially too. With Russia's economy on the up and up, something like this might draw visitors from the far east to visit the parks. It would be beneficial to Russia as well, because it might serve to break down some preconceived notions about the country and inspire guests to visit. Plus, Russia is a country rich in history and culture. There is so much for Disney to explore. I'm very excited and can't wait to see what happens. I know this rumor is not a new one, but I'm crossing my fingers hoping that it comes to fruition.

I know that I am coming late onto this thread, but I am soooo excited to see this. We have 2 adopted Russian kiddos and this would be great to see, and much cheaper than going directly overseas.

At this point I would be excited to see any addition to World Showcase. While Future World did need lots of updating and refurbishments, it’s too bad that they focused entirely on one area of the park and completely neglected (minus a few re-done films) the other. A new country would be great. A new attraction (along the lines of a modern-Maelstrom) would also be great.
