Running The Half, Dis Meets, Deluxe Dining,& SSR! BACK. Had a great time!

hi lynn
You will love love love disneyland granted it has only 2 parks but the closeness of the parks ( maybe 6-8 minutes walking ) and also downtown disney is something we love ..also the differences between wdw et DL like for ex : pirates of carabean ( different than WDW ) small world ( also differend ) .....what about mickey's toontown it,s just beautyful ...we always double a trip at DL with one or two sightseing tours we did hollywood ( twice ) seaworld san diego ...and the beauty of it all they take ( bus tour ) you in front of your hotel ( disney or otherwise ) and they bring you back after it . the many choices of restaurants in resorts ' parks and also on harbour boulevard ( maybe 10 minute walk ) is also nice but most of all you can sense wal'ts presence in DL ( where it all began ) and for us we love that we never have to take a disney bus ( not that we dont like them ) .
we as dvc members stayed at disneyland hotel we loved it .

Congrats again on passing your exam! You are doing really well in everything lately :goodvibes A lucky fairy must definately be looking after you :thumbsup2

Thank you so much girl.

ohhh...love the idea of Disneyland! :) I sadly haven't ever been yet though so I can't help with any ideas.

Yeah me neither.... but I'm going to freak out on Tim.... he just told me that he can't imagine going anywhere else now. AHHH!!! lol

Better add the Disneyland boards to your bookmarks....lots of fantastic info over there.

We have been about 10 times and as recently as last Summer. We love it and it will be really fun for a 1st timer.

Honestly I don't get excited about LA because I grew up close by and have been all over and its just not the same as going to WDW for us;);)

I will say up front...start saving because the Dland hotels are way pricier than the WDW ones. Oh yeah...DVC...you can book DVC. Definately stay at the GCH...it is the closest feeling you will get to staying at WDW. very very much like the WL. We have stayed there a few times now and really like it. It is a 5 min walk to the entrance of both parks. It is honestly worth the splurge to stay there for this convenience but the room is bascially the same as the WL in decor....not worth $360 per night:eek: but that is what you have to do to stay closest to the magic. ;)

Fly into Orange County airport if you can its a lot closer, like 20 mins from Dland...although LAX may offer cheaper fares. You will be able to go to Newport Beach and the beach towns easily from Dland...but Bev hills and Magic Mtn/Universal are up North and at least an hour away in terrible traffic.

I will leave it up to everyone else to make suggestions because we only go to Dland when we go...we have no interest in LA anymore. ;) We like to stay immersed in the Disney magic. Its just so different that WDW because you are int eh middle of a city...and you can see city, power poles, hotels, smog, etc.
We personally thing Cal Adventure is the most boring park on earth but don't listen to me...I am making it sound terrible and it isn't....really:flower3:

Can't wait to hear your plans:thumbsup2

HAHA thank you for the advice. See I was looking online last night and didn't think the hotels were expensive. It seemed cheaper. Oh well because Tim now is thinking about just going back down to FL. AHH lol! I think he really wants to do star wars weekend.

I have been twice to Disneyland stayed on site once and stayed off site the other time. If you can afford it I would stay on site but it can be pretty pricey. I think we stayed offsite in a pretty nice hotel for about $90 per night(might have been less), and we were able to take a bus there and back. I've never done the LA stuff so can't help you there. Brandon and I are thinking about doing DL next spring too! We might wait until 2011 though when Disney will have a ship out in LA and do a mexican riviera cruise and DL.

I remember when you went Tori. Well looks like we are not going, lol!

What a perfect idea!! I thought you were going to cheat on Mickey and go somewhere else!! For shame! :sad2:;)
One of these days I am going to make it out there with some DVC points but right now I am point challenged :lmao:
Looking forward to your plans and where you decide to stay!

Tracy

Tracy I don't think we are going to go lol! Ahhh I'm going to hurt my husband haha.

Thank you so much for the info, I appreciate it.

Well I'm an idiot lol! My spring semester ends May 15, lol so we have to go the third week in May HAHA!

Looks like as of right now we will be going back down to Disney. Maybe we can look into renting DVC points. I don't want to use my points, want to save them.

I know that we will definitely go to Universal this time. Maybe go to the beach as well.

As a Disneyland local I can honestly say you will love it!:lovestruc You can walk between the two parks, there are so many rides (that are scattered in wdw), if you don't want to stay on property you can still walk to the parks easily, and there are so many other things to see and do in Southern California.

I am loving the idea of a Disneyland anniversary trip!!! Do you have enough DVC points to stay at the Grand Californian Villas? The last time I went to Disneyland I was about eight years old, but I do remember loving every minute of it! Oh, I am just so excited for you!!!

Lynn, have you thought of doing a Disney cruise for an anniversary trip? You could still do Star Wars weekend before or after you get off the ship. Just a thought--I love the cruises!! It's a way to experience Disney a different way.

Cheryl

I did the Disneyland Half Marathon a couple of years ago and it was really fun. You spend a lot of time running through the parks, though a lot of the race is through what they call "downtown Anaheim." Not too exciting:rolleyes1 We got to run thru Angels stadium too. My DH thought it was great because he actually sat in the dugout. Anyway, they do that race Labor Day weekend so it's something to think about if it works with your schedule. We've rented DVC points before. I think that is a great deal! It will be fun to hear what you decide!

Lynn-We are currently in the process of renting points from a member on the boards. We leave September 24, so I can give you a full review when I get back how the experience was. So far it has been awesome!

Silly Tim!! Hopefully you guys do make it out there sooner or later!! I know I want to. I think maybe though I want to spend a full 2 weeks or so in Cali and hit up DL, SW, Universal, Legoland (for Landon...I went there when I was younger, its awesome!) and just around the beaches and places in So Cali! But WDW is always a good plan too!! You guys are lucky you get to make it down so much!!

Between LA and San Diego there seems to be plenty of fun/exciting things to do down in that area.

At the end of 2005, we were planning a Dec 2006 trip to go to LA/San Diego....and soon after found out that Samantha was going to coming in 2006. LOL

So...never have made it out there for a vacation.

That's exciting about Disneyland! You should def. go. Trying to convince DBF to do this in 2011 (I have to start early! :rotfl:).

DBF is a big sports fan.. maybe this will convince him.

:rotfl: so no CA? Well....you were married at Disney in FL and you have shared so many great memories there so far so it's all good! :goodvibes I do agree that a cruise at some point would be so much fun...I went in 2007 and can't wait to go again.
Tammy had such great pictures of Star Wars Weekends that it makes me want to go too!! And I think I only ever saw the first movie and I was really little!:lmao: It just looked like a lot of fun (and creepy characters :scared1:) I am going in the beginning of May thanks to yours and Tammy's F&G pictures!! :rotfl:
No matter where you go you will have a great time!
Universal will have that new rollercoaster open too!

I am dying to go to Disneyland but the airfare makes it way to pricey! I will get out there one day. That'd be an awesome trip, to see where it all started. :)

OMG, that would be awesome to go to Disneyland!!! I've always wanted to go there and compare it to WDW!!

Yeah it would be cool to get out there. Looks like Tim is leaning towards Disney World for Star Wars weekend. We shall see.

Yeah I love the Cruise!! We will definitely do another one in the future!! We went on it a couple of years ago.

Yeah the air is a lot!!! Air to FL is soooo cheap!!!!

Well Tim and I were thinking that it's time to go and do something different next year for our anniversary.

We were planning on going down to Disney for Star Wars weekend, but that would be the end of May into June, and I'm most likely going to do a summer 2 class. So we decided to go to.........

DISNEYLAND!!!

We also want to go to LA and do all that fun stuff too. Not sure if we are going to stay there, or stay off site.

Have any of you ever been to Disneyland, or LA??

We definitely want to do other stuff out there too.

Ohhh you should definitely go to Disneyland!!! It is so much fun even if it is so different from WDW. I've only been there twice but can't wait to go back. Both of our Disneyland visits were tied into Rose Bowl trips so we saw the Rose Parade/football game (obviously that's a once-a-year event!). On our second one we went to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Whats up pretty girl!!!!!!

Just checking in with you! Its been a little crazy around here with me trying to get back on the dis!! :lmao:

You'd LOVE Disneyland! We went to Newport Beach in 2007 and had a fantastic time. I reccommend that area to stay in, too. It's a good central place if you want to go to Universal, SW in San Diego, the beaches, and other CA attractions. California Adventure is an amazing park-- Soarin and TOT and TSMM in one park! Since the size isn't the same as WDW, obviously, I'd say 3 full days would probably be enough for just Disney.

My dad was telling us to go when they do the Rose Bowl. He said he loved it when he was younger.
