Running Route at RIV

Good afternoon RunDisney friends,

I am taking a week long vacation at RIV in a couple of weeks (I know! A Disney vacation with no races? 🤣) and I am wondering if there is any kind of extensive path that is suitable for running in the direct resort area? I'd like to be able to maintain my weekly mileage if I can. We typically stay at the GF (so I know that running route) or at the BW/BC, which is great for running. This will be our first RIV stay and I am not sure. Based on what I could see from our car at princess week, there does not seem to be a sidewalk outside of the RIV resort that could get me down to the Boardwalk and the Crescent Lake area for running. Any advice or guidance here? I'd hate to be on a treadmill all week. Thanks so much. 💜

You can walk from Riviera to Caribbean Beach, so you can run between the two resorts. I think I remember someone posting there was a way to get from CBR to Pop/AoA, but I can't remember how that worked. At the very least, you can take the Skyliner over there.

RunningInMakeup did a series on Instagram where she ran around all the WDW resorts.

There is a loop around the lake between RIV and CBR. I love running there! I think it’s just over a mile around, I’ll have to double check.

Make sure you hit the RIV gym when you’re done for a chilled towel!

ETA: I went all the way to the end of CBR here and just over 2 loops got me 4 miles.

Every WDW resort has a running route, does it not?
Loved POR/POFQ - that's my favorite so far. It takes you around the "river" between the two resorts. No gym though
AoA/POP is around the lake and it's good - also no gym.
BWV/BCV is around the lake - my 2nd favorite that I've done, and the BWV gym is great.
BLT/Contemporary - meh. The route takes you around BLT and around the Garden Wing. The Contemporary Gym leaves a lot to be desired too.
CCV/BRV/Wilderness Lodge takes you out to the end of BRV. That one is good and we used the gym every day (DD was in training for her LAX team)

I love the Contemporary gym because it makes me feel like I’m on the 7 1/2 floor from Being John Malkovitch. Those ceilings are so low that I’m always terrified of punching through the acoustic tiles. And while I love the running path from Riveria through CBR, one major downside is that all the smoking areas are along the path so you risk all the fumes from the smokers sitting on the benches.

Ugh, totally agree! The Contemporary gym (along with the resort "running" path) is the worst! 🤪

I'll be there in a couple of weeks as well!

There's a Garmin course that shows the loop around the main body of water in front of RIV and CBR (ending at Sea Breeze Dr) measuring 1.19 miles.

YAH!! It's my younger sister's spring break week so DH and I will be traveling with her and her husband but I want to get my runs in early. Who knows--maybe I will see you around that path!! 💜

Many years ago I stayed at Pop and ran over to CBR and around the lake. This was before Riviera existed. There is a tunnel under Century Drive that cast members use and connect the two resort areas. I'm guessing this route would not be officially endorsed by WDW but there were no signs telling me the route I took was closed to the public. By combining the two resorts, you can cover a lot more distance with less repetition.

My kids' spring break as well.
It remains to be seen whether I will get any runs in :) It's hard to do at WDW unless I'm solo!
But if I do I will definitely be on the lookout for a princess Jasmine :teeth:

I totally get it! I hope you have a lovely break with your family. And LOL!! I will likely be wearing some Jasmine running tanks for sure. 🤣 🤣

Ah, it was YOUR running journal where I saw that.
