Running My Way To Disney.... Princess in Training ~ Oct Trip Plans ~

HI :wave2::welcome:to my PTR!

I have written other PTR's and TR's here on the DIS but this one will be a little different. I have started training to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon!!!

I quit smoking in Feb of 2008 and I put on quite a bit of weight.... ok a lot of weight, so I need to lose it and there is no better motivation then the Princess Half Marathon!

It will be Feb 2013 and 5 years since I quit so why not run to celebrate!

Here is a pic of me and my girls on our trip to Disney last September

So trip details:

Who: So far just me, Natalie OCD Disney planner and mom of 3 wonderful children who will NOT be coming this time, but I have a couple of friends I am trying to talk into being my cheerleaders (you know who you are!!!) and if they can't make it then it's a solo trip!

What: Trip to Disney World

Where: Florida Duh :confused3 jk I'm not sure where I will be staying yet

When: Feb 21st 2013

Why: Cause I'm gonna run a half Marathon!!!!

How:Lots of hard work :sick:

So I need all the readers I can get for this PTR as I have never run a half marathon before and I have lots to learn. Anyone who has any tips or any ideas please feel free to share them with me since I am so new to all of this
 
So inspired by reading other PTR's, TR's and people I know that have ran the Half Marathon I have started the Couch to 5K training.

So tonight was day 1 and My 2 DD's and I made our way to the school (me walking, them on their bikes) My DD Eryka rode her bike around the track and timed my walking/running intervals for me as well as reciting "you can do it" continuously around the track (did I mention I have great kids?)

So I made it though the 1st step and I didn't pass out and was still able to walk home!

Day 2 will be on Wednesday when the girls are at swimming lessons and I will sneak up to the gym and time myself

Are you still doing a fall trip too? At least i thought you were doing one?

I give you so much credit for doing this. I can't run at all. I feel like I might die if I do. :crazy2:

WOOHOO :cheer2: Glad you could make it cause I need someone who will kick my butt. I plan to update for every workout, so at least 3 times a week and I know if I don't you will harass me so welcome!!!!

Yeppers... 55 days till I'm there!!!! Can wait to be at POR and I hear it's a beautiful place to go for a run!!!!

Don't give me credit yet but I am determined to do this!

My original inspiration for doing this came from PRmamiDEdos who did the Princess last year. When I went down for Leap Day I ran into her at DTD and she was wearing her medal. Now she is running all the time and I used to love running so I'm hoping I can get back there too

I mentioned to DH this morning that you were hoping I could join you and cheer you on. He says, "You should! Better yet, you should run along with her." Say what?!

Turned out he thought I'd said the "Princess Margaret" marathon in Toronto, not the Princess Half in Florida. :rotfl:

p.s. I am not a lawyer, and have never played one on tv, but if I were that is the arguement I would use.

Not any subject just my running and updates (not that this will stop you)
 
So I decided since today is not a "training" day that I would go to the track and walk a mile and see what I can do.

So I got the kid ready with her timer and I did a mile in 17min 31sec. Not too bad for someone that hasn't worked out or exercised in years.

So I need to get that down by 2 min. I can do it!!!
 
I thinkthat is great. I am slow. I used to walk fast but now most of my mile walks are 17-20 minutes.

Since we were so hot I decided we should head to the YMCA for a swim, so although I didn't run as much as I should have we did swim as well

Oh and I have decided I am going to run as Ariel!!! I will make a green and purple tutu and I am hoping to get a DISign of the shell bra that I can iron on a tank top!!!

You do realize you will be running in Florida right? Chances are it will be hot, so I will no longer accept that as an excuse for not running.:rolleyes1

Secondly, forget the iron on, you should run in a real shell bra.:rotfl2:

Lastly, I wanted to provide you with some motivation, and couldn't think of a better workout motivational song than "Eye of the Tiger" from Rocky. Not sure if it works for women though.

OK but I will be running in Florida in Feb, at 5:30am... I heard it's pretty cold at that time.

I'm sure you remember the Florida freeze of December 2010 :cold:

No real shell bra... that would not be pretty
