Hi Guys,
I am getting sick of the same songs and want to change some around. So I thought it was time for a new workout/running music thread. I need some new music. My long runs need a pick me up

So what do you guys have on yours?

I'm a total music junky and I like all kinds of music. I'm more into heavy rock than anything else. I have a playlist that's about 6 hours long that I shuffle through. Here's a list of some of the artists I've got based on genre:

Heavy Rock/Metal

Skillet
Stretch Armstrong
Chasing Victory (my brother's band-lots of stuff on iTunes by them)
Maylene & the Sons of Disaster
Still Remains
As I Lay Dying
Emery

Rock/Pop

Black Eyed Peas
tobyMac
Selena Gomez (shut up, I've got a 10 year old daughter and some of it's good)
Justin Beiber (see notes above! lol)
Ke$ha
Katy Perry
Lady Gaga
Sean Kingston (feat. Niki Minaj)
Family Force 5
Paramore

Rap

Jay-Z
Notorious B.I.G.
KJ-52
K'anan
Matisyahu
Ludacris
Nelly (old stuff only)

Weird Inspirational Stuff

Theme to Knight Rider (have no idea why that song pumps me up)
Club stuff like Chemical Brothers, Crystal Meth, etc...

I seriously have such diverse musical tastes. I went through the 35+gb of music I had and hand-selected the stuff that I knew would push me through.

Some of my favorites....

Lots of Dave Matthews

Mumford and Sons -- The Cave, Roll Away Your Stone, Little Lion Man

Muse -- Uprising, Super Massive Black Hole, Hysteria

Jack Johnson -- Good People, You and Your Heart

Rage Against the Machine -- Bulls On Parade, Know Your Enemy, Bullet in the Head, Testify

Blues Traveller -- Freedom, Carolina Blues, But Anyways

Crash Kings -- Mountain Man

State Radio -- Right Me Up

John Butler Trio -- Used to get High, Somethings Got to Give

The Heavy -- How You Like me Now

There's a lot more but that's a start.

Totally forgot about Rage Against the Machine! Yes, I've got alot by them. To me, anything by them and Stretch Armstrong gets me through the tough stretches! I remember a few more.

I've got some Muse on mine too (sames songs you listed! lol), and also some Linkin Park.

A few staples and recent additions:

New Coldplay - Every Tear is a Waterfall, Charlie Brown, Paradise
Fall Out Boy
Panic! at the Disco
Linkin Park

I never listen to music when running outside, but will put it on once in a while at the gym if I'm stuck having to use a dreadmill. Here's some of what's on there right now. Lots of punk and metal to get the blood flowing.

Rev Theory - Justice
Five Finger Death Punch - Hard to See; The Bleeding
Bullet for My Valentine - Scream Aim Fire

Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized
Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife; Welcome to the Family; Bat Country
Killswitch Engaged - Holy Diver
Cancer Bats - Sabotage
Fear - Let's Have a War
Hollywood Undead - Undead
Rammstein - Du Hast
Rise Against - Audience of One
Slipknot - Sulfur; Psychosocial; Wait and Bleed
Social Distortion - Ball and Chain; Machine Gun Blues
System of A Down - Toxicity; B.Y.O.B.
Mudvayne - Scream With Me
Clash - White Riot; London Calling;
Green Day - Longview; Minority; American Idiot

Barbra Streisand - Duck Sauce
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
Cat & Mouse - Nikki & Rich
Club Can't Handle Me - (feat. David Guetta) Flo Rida
Come Out and Play - The Offspring
Down With the Sickness - Disturbed
Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride - Jump5
Hey, Soul Sister - Train Hey
I Gotta Feeling - Black Eyed Peas
I'm Shipping Up to Boston - Dropkick Murphys
Jessica (Single Version) - The Allman Brothers Band
Like a G6 - Far East Movement
Monster - Skillet
Naturally - Selena Gomez & The Scene
Say Hey (I Love You) [feat. Cherine Anderson] - Michael Franti & Spearhead
Still Waiting - Sum 41
Walking On Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves
We No Speak Americano - Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup
Your Betrayal - Bullet for My Valentine
1,2,3 Turnaround - Christian TV

I have a few more I need to load on to my running playlist from DS15.

You and I would get along nicely with our tastes in music! lol. I've tried running to System of A Down quite a bit and I find it so up and down, I have a difficult time keeping a steady pace. I want to run with the beat! lol.

That's why I love running to heavy stuff though. I picture myself in the pit and get aggressive while running! :cool2:

You list looks like some of my anaerobic threshold class music.

I'm in need of some new tunes too. Some of my favorites:

Disturbed - Down With The Sickness
Buckcherry - Crazy *itch
Godsmack - Whiskey Hangover
Nickelback - Animals
Tom Cochrane - Life Is A Highway
STP - Vasoline
AMR - Gives You Hell
Atom Smash - Do Her Wrong
Maroon 5 - Harder To Breathe
Drowning Pool - Bodies

Black Eyed Peas
Pink
No Doubt
Lady Gaga
Collective Soul
Lots of Goo Goo Dolls & Lifehouse as well

If you have a smart phone, you can listen to the cardio workout channels on pandora. That is what I do now and I'm pretty happy with the variety.

Along with a lot of the stuff that John has, I can't help my addiction to Pitbull. His beats are perfectly timed for my 8ish minute miles. Plus, I love latin music. I also like a lot of Gwen Stefani (girl power), especially Just a Girl by No Doubt.

My playlist for my long runs has a variety of soundtracks, either movie or Broadway since some of those songs are long. If it's in a movie, no matter how short the appearance, it qualifies for this list. That's how I can justify Free Bird being with Kiss Me, Kate. :cool1:

I just naturally assumed based on your screen name, you would have answered Jimmy Buffet.

His songs are great when I'm stressed, they certainly got me to relax when exams rolled around, but I have plenty of other songs that are better to work out to.

Mine looks like I have multiple personality disorder, but it's set up so that I get a change in music style about every two miles.

Sect 1 - Pop - Kesha, LMFAO, Supermassive Black Hole, Katy Perry...
Sect 2 - LSU Tiger Band (No laughs - it has a good beat)
Sect 3 - 80's - Footloose, Tainted Love, Wham!, Pat Benatar, Take On Me...
Sect 4 - Disney Parks Music - Illuminations, Soarin, Spectro, Tiki, Pirates, GBBT
Sect 5 - Country - Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, Red Solo Cup ...
Sect 6 - 90s - NKOTB, Push it, Mambo No. 5,
Sect 7 - Buffet/Beach Boys
Sect 8 - Rock - Cashmere, Santana, Metallica, Eye of the Tiger

It's all over the place, but it keeps things interersting.
