Running for my Disney - Now a PTR!

Sounds like an awesome plan, very full on though, I hope you are able to fit in everything that you want to do :)

I hope so too! I think the road trip portion will be full on, but a lot of the activities will be optional depending on how we feel at the time. Hopefully we'll get to relax a bit once we get to DLR. Yes, on a Disney forum I am suggesting that DLR will be the 'down time' in our trip :rotfl:

Don't really have much to add at this point in time. I'm hanging out for DH to book some flights so that I can start organising the final few days of my trip. It looks like fares are generally much better the day after I plan to leave, so if I'm able to be flexi there it might help us out.

Haven't got much to report on my legs either. Last week was pretty much a write-off with my sister in law's wedding (I was in the bridal party), then I got sick and spent the rest of the week mooching on the couch. Feeling much better today but now I've lost a week of 'training'. I'm seeing the physio again tomorrow so hopefully he'll be able to reassure me that I haven't lost too much ground. One part of my leg is still pretty swollen and bruised which is a bit of a concern, so it will be interesting to hear what he says about that too.

But the actual update for this particular post is... I bought a dress for Dapper Day! I just couldn't go past the fairground print for a day at Disneyland, so hopefully it fits when it gets here and continues to fit well enough as I lose weight.

I was going to buy some shoes too, but it was all getting a bit too much for my poor little bank balance :rolleyes1

I love the dress!!
Can just picture you wearing it
Hoping that the swelling / bruising isn't too much of a setback

Thanks :goodvibes I can't wait to try it on!

I'll update again tomorrow night once I've seen the physio. I'm starting to get nervous now because the training programs begin in the first week of May :scared1:

I hope that the wedding went well.
Sorry about your leg. I hope that you have good news with the physio.

LOVE the dress. You'll look FABULOUS in it.

Gorgeous dress :) and I just read your itinerary - that is full on! Any first class tickets booked for the trip home so you can get some rest? ;)

Hmm it didn't even occur to me that our itinerary was really intense before I posted it here :rotfl: I hope it's not too much for us now!

We're still considering the idea of getting business class tickets from Fiji, just hanging out for a good price. I'm really starting to get edgy about flights though and just want something booked in!

Great revised itinerary very interesting- it can never be too intense!! Also LOVE the dress-and yes, can just imagine you in it. Hope the recent leg issue is just a little hiccup and will soon improve so you can get on with training. Was pleased to read how well you have been doing since its been a while since I dropped in. Will keep watching for updates!

Thanks for the reassurance Wendy :thumbsup2

It was good news at the physio again last night :goodvibes

It's the first time he's seen the incisions without the dressings, and he was really impressed by how well they're healing and said the surgeon did a really good job. I find it kind of difficult to believe with how they're looking at the moment, but he says I'll have really minimal scarring from it. There are two little bits that are still a bit scabby (which is where they got wet those couple of times early on) that he said will be a little bit more noticeable.

Apparently the 'swelling' around the lower incision on the right leg is just scar tissue and should eventually go away on its own. In the meantime, I have to massage it as much as I can bear to help break it up. There's also a tiny bit of scar tissue on the top of the left incision too. It won't affect my training though :goodvibes

Which brings me to my next point... I can start training again next week! The physio said the couch 2 5k would be a great starting point, so I'll start that again. He's very confident, and said I should even find myself being able to get through it quicker than 9 weeks. I don't think I'll bother though - I'm 2 weeks ahead of schedule so I've got plenty of time! I've passed all the checkpoints with flying colours, so once I start training I won't have any restrictions on what I can and can't do, it will just be up to me to listen to my body. I don't have another appointment for 4 weeks, but the physio said I can call any time if I'm unsure about whether to push further or not.

This week I need to start building up my walking and gym workouts a bit more in preparation for jogging. I need to get my walking up to 30 minutes, then try to cover a bit more distance (ie walk faster). I can start running in the pool, and stepping it up on the bike and cross trainer. Not quite sure how much of that I'll manage to do since it's already Wednesday! Plus, I woke up feeling terrible again this morning with what appears to be a sinus infection. I've started taking the antibiotics the doctor gave me last week, so hopefully I'll start feeling better tomorrow. I still plan to walk for 25 minutes this afternoon. I can't really afford to 'waste' any days this week!

I finally have some exciting trip related news! We booked our flights last night :cool1: We've gone with the Fiji Airways business class (booked through Qantas so I still get a decent amount of AA points and status).

DH has booked his whole trip from Melbourne via Sydney and Nadi on points, and gets to go business class all the way :thumbsup2 He'll be leaving on the Thursday prior to RunDisney, and managed to snap up the last flight returning on the Sunday about 10 days later. He'll be away for less than 2 weeks all up so he is very happy.

We've just booked my flight from Nadi for now, leaving on the Tuesday before RunDisney, and leaving on the Friday about 3 1/2 weeks later. We'll be looking for some bargain basement fares to Fiji (such a shame Air Asia doesn't fly there :rotfl:) or I'll look at getting that bit in points too, but I'll have to go economy.

Unfortunately in order to save $900 I had to ditch the few days I was planning to have in Arizona, and I won't get to do one of the activities I was looking forward to in San Antonio which is only available on weekends :sad1: It's not like I can complain though, it's a pretty exciting trip already, and I still get to go to Texas :thumbsup2

That's great
You are so inventive with your flights - I would never have thought of the combinations you come up with... And always such good deals
Wonderful that your trip is all staring to come together

Excellent news! Nothing like having locked in flights.....especially business class.

Shame about the extra days or lack there of in Arizona.
