I received a survey from runDisney about the Half Marathon and towards the end they were telling me that they are considering a half marathon in Disneyland Paris in the fall of 2014. They stated that about 8-9 miles of the course would be in the countryside around the theme park and gave a cost of 70 dollars for the race registration. They also had a package deal with Disney hotel, 3 day theme park ticket, and registration for $1100. Any thoughts or opinions?

DH (who is not a runner) says "It sounds like they are having a hard time getting people to go to Disneyland Paris." :confused3

The cost is less than half of what I paid for Tinker Bell. :scratchin

I'd definitely be in! It's less than an hour flight from the UK so would be wonderful. Not all the Disneyish though if 8-9 miles are countryside. DLP is very small and compact compared to WDW though so it makes sense.

Just seems to me that they figure it'll be tougher to get big numbers of runners in Paris than in California...

Paris has been ranking consistently as the world's 5th largest marathon at around 30,000 runners per year. The Bupa Great North Run in Newcastle, England is currently the world's largest 1/2 marathon capped at 55,000 runners with over 100,000 lottery applicants annually. I think there are plenty of runners across the pond to have a successful event in Paris.

I also got the survey. Like the package price, but the trip would really hinge on airfare. Wish they would offer this type of pricing for a Disneyland race package!

Agree. We lived in the NE of England for 5 years and running is definitely a popular sport there. I am so excited that the survey is out and perhaps runDisney is finally going to announce a race in Paris. We have been hoping for this for a long time and definitely will be there!

I was just coming over here to report that we got the same survey. We LOVED DLP and would definitely be in.

The compactness of the park isn't that different than Disneyland in California. So about the same amount of the race would be on Disney property as for the DL Half/Tink. France is beautiful, it would be a fantastic race.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Paris is one of my favorite cities and throw in a trip to Disney? If only I could

My husband has been wanting to go to France... Disney marathon trip at the same time? Sounds good to me. :)

It would be interesting to see how a Disney race goes over in Paris. From what I understand about most European races (with a few exceptions like the London marathon) is that their races are very hardcore. I really want to run the semi marathon in Paris, but when I was day dreaming...I mean umm, planning a future trip...I saw my (barely) sub 2 half would put me in the second to last corral! Kind of intimating.

It would be amazing if Disney could somehow partner with an airline to offer some affordable travel. Disney race or not, running in the countryside of Paris sounds absolutely amazing!

I would consider that! If the airfare was reasonable...which it might be at that time of the year..why not? Say you ran a race in Paris? Not a bad experience.

I think that this would be a wonderful thing. I wish it weren't in the fall of 2014 though, as I already have my vacations planned and budgeted for next year.

Wonder if instead of a Coast to Coast medal, you got a 'Crossing the Globe' medal for doing at least a half in DLR, WDW & DLP?

Oh to dream.

Joining in here to stay on top of the info...runDisney has a hard time getting emails to me so if anymore info is emailed about this possible race, hopefully I can find out here! :thumbsup2 I would absolutely have to find a way to make this trip work...like alot have already said, it's the airfare that would be the kicker for me. I wonder if they would open up the registration for this race earlier than they do for the others?

I'd be thrilled! I'm just a country over to the right from France and an event in DLP would fit comfortably into a weekend for me. I wonder if they're thinking to make it a women-focused race like the PHM. I would also love it if they offered a continent-to-continent medal like the Coast-to-Coast!

Sounds great to me! There's no way I could do it in the near future, but it does sounds great.

I would love to see Disneyland Paris -- if a race at DLP existed and happened annually, perhaps in the distant future I could plan a trip to DLP to coincide with the race.
