This is my first post on here and it is not the happiest. I was wondering if anyone else has been run over by a motorized scooter before? Is it possible to file a complaint with guest services or somewhere. I notice that these things are not Disney owned, but are everywhere! I understand the need for some people to have them due to disabilities, weight, etc, but they should include a driving course or some sort of training wheels for people that do not know how to operate them. They are everywhere now! How much does Disney get of rental money, and what is wrong with wheelchairs that you push?

My favorite part is when they hit the gas and ran over the ankle thinking they were hitting the brake. If you look at the front of them, it is built like a cattle truck for pushing herds, and that is exactly what they do with them. All they could do was smile at their innocent grandmother in her chair and you should have gotten out of the way! It is truly a nightmare at certain times trying to navigate with those things I am sure, but come on!

When I see one I get out of the way. True they probably have never driven one before and it's different with all the crowds. I'm sure grandma didn't mean to run you over though.

Disney didn't do anything. I'm not sure why you would file a complaint with them.

Thanks Tissa for the lovely advice about getting out of the way. It is hard, most of these scooters are equipped with stronger faster motors than the Indy speed cars at MK so you jump out of the way of a moving car. I got a nasty flesh wound and serious bruise. I can't sleep at night because of the nightmares! Similar to Lightning mcQueen being chased by the combine in cars.

I do not think libowski is going to make a real complaint. I think he is just venting about what happend. I think that the people who rent them should go through a semi drivers ed class before they just let them go on thoes things. You have to take a class to learn how to ride one of their segways for a tour. I have seen some crazy drivers on thoes things. :moped:

Thank you JW! I am just saying if someone got more seriously injured than me, who is responsible??

They should bad the damn things. If you need help get a NON POWERED wheel chair. At least that way the damage to others my not be as bad. During a Keys to the Kingdom tour last June our group watched in horror as an old lady who could not drive one crashed into a group of about 15 people.

Well, I've never been run over by a Rascal, but have definitely been whacked by a few strollers!
I totally embarrass my family because I yell bloody murder and carry on like I have a broken leg. I hint at ambulances and law suits. It has no effect in the long run, but I just like to emphasize to the transgressors that they should be more careful!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: For some reason, it makes me feel better.:rolleyes1

I would pay to see that! HA, I know you have to shake it off, move on, etc. But be warned, it does happen even at the most magical place on Earth

why should people who need one be denied one. oh yeah you said so.

think not:)

I was at the Land pavilion at Epcot a couple of years ago - standing in front of the glass near the entrance. Next thing I knew - a scooter ran into me and the lady on it didn't know how to stop it or put it in reverse! I had a lovely cut and bruise on my ankle from it. If I had seen her coming - I guess I could've stepped aside and let her run into the glass window. THAT might've inspired her to learn how to run the damn thing!

Well, perhaps there isn't anyone in the guest's group that's strong enough to push a wheelchair all day long? What if it's an elderly couple, with one of them needing a wheelchair? I doubt if most 75-year-olds could push a wheelchair for a few miles a day. Preventing them from using an ECV would effectively ban them from the parks, unless they managed to get a younger, stronger relative or friend to go along.

Disney's not going to ban ECVs. Ever. Yes, it's unfortunate that some people have trouble driving them, but that's not Disney's fault.

I doubt if Disney makes a ton of money renting ECVs, since they have a limited number available for renting. Most people bring their own, or rent from an offsite company.

There are other alternatives Waltfan 1957 like a NON Powered chair! Something that is pushed, not driven.

and people that bring their own do know how to drive them but still get the blame when others are not looking where they are going my wife has been hit in the face dozens of times with backpacks handbags etc do we ban them?

Ouch! Strictly speaking, it is the fault of the driver who hit you, but you might want to bring it to Disney's attention. I witnessed a lot of bad scooter behavior on our last trip. I saw one woman with her head spinning around like Linda Blair, looking everywhere but the path ahead of her, plow right into a guy. There was no way he could have avoided her. We also saw a CM have to chase down and grab onto the handle bars of one wild rider. She had a kid who looked about 6 or 7 yrs. old sitting in the little basket at the front while she slalomed and did donuts down Main St. The CM repeatedly yelled at her to stop, but she kept going, so he was forced to make a leap and grab the controls. She had a big goofy grin on her face, like she just discovered the best ride at Disney. Other guests were practically running for their lives. I don't even want to get into the problems we witnessed with people trying to board buses with those things. :scared1: There's been a big increase in the scooter use over the past few years. Disney should provide rules for every scooter user, whether they bring their own or rent from the park before things get any worse.
