Run Now! It’s Wine 0’Clock in WDW…Cupcakes Gone W&D16

Whet Your Appetite Wednesday: Future World Food Booths
Pre Planning Our Eat & Drink Around the World Crawl

(or by the end of the night teetering and rolling around the world)

Trying to find ways to pass the next
131 days, so Wednesday is going to be officially called “Whet Your Appetite Wednesday” because Cupcakes like eating and most of this trip will be focused around Food & Wine (and yes running). Since the menus for F&W are not available for 2016 until the midSpring and we have pretty much covered favorite dining experiences and foods from around WDW…let’s start pre-planning some our Post Race Sunday Eat & Drink Crawl Around the World (information, rules and requirements later) by circling the World Showcase in search of the best snacks…

I seriously do not know what Disney has been doing lately when it comes to scheduling. By now we should have already had A LOT of F&W information, but instead we barely have anything to work with. In fact, EASYWDW puts out an awesome detailed calendar with lots of thoughts and planning insights at 180 days still has nothing for November. It is so frustrating for planners, even though I am really not planning a lot not to have information to work with. Sigh…come on Disney I feel like you are dropping the ball….

Thankfully we do have last years food booths to work from just for fun and to keep us entertained while we wait. We have pretty much covered all the countries of the World Showcase and their respective food booths and we are left with a few booths that I will break up into ABC order until we are finished…this week we will do A-B (Africa, Brazil, Belgium)

Africa
–Berbere-style beef tenderloin tips with onions, jalapeños, tomato and pap
–Buttered chicken with micro cilantro and naan bread

better chicken.jpg

I am going to have to go with the Buttered Chicken. I had this last trip at Sanaa and I fell in love. Don’t expect me to share this one!

Belgium
–Potato and leek waffle with beer-braised beef and smoked gouda cream
–Belgium waffle with warm chocolate ganache and whipped cream
–Belgium waffle with berry compote and whipped cream

Belgium-chocolate-waffle-600x490.jpg

I think it is time for a little dessert, so I have to go with the Belgium waffle with chocolate!

Brazil
–Escondidinho de carne, “Little Hidden One”: layered meat pie with mashed yucca
–Crispy pork belly with black beans and tomato
–Pão de queijo: Brazilian cheese bread
–Cocada: Brazilian coconut candy

Pork-Belly-2014-Brazil-Booth-Epcot-FW.jpg cheese bread.jpg

Last time at F&W I had the Crispy pork belly…and it was to die for, have to repeat this one if offered this year and no snack is complete without a little bread, so how about a side of the Pão de queijo.

What are you having?

That chicken looks good and I'm totally with you on the Belgium waffle with chocolate!

Arica - Jam Jar sweet shiraz
Belgium - Stella (I LOVE Stella!!)
Brazil - Carnaval moscato
Brewers Collection - Shofferhofer

Trust me that butter chicken is AMAZING!

Arica - Jam Jar sweet shiraz
Belgium - Stella (I LOVE Stella!!)
Brazil - Carnaval moscato
Brewers Collection - Shofferhofer

3 our of 4 ain't to bad to agree on

Food --

Africa - Buttered chicken
Belgium - waffle with berry compote
Brazil - Pork belly & cheese bread

I figured you would go with the berries and not the chocolate!

Okay. Lots of drinking to be done.
Africa: DeMorgenzon DMZ Cabernet Róse (I kinda really like Rose, I don't know why...)
Belgium: Chilled coffee featuring Godiva Chocolate Liqueur (True story - I almost got this on my last F&W trip, but I just never got around to it. I love Godiva Liqueur. They used to make dark chocolate and milk chocolate versions (I don't remember if they originally had the white chocolate one of it that came later), then they stopped making the dark chocolate one, so we've had a bottle of it that we've been refusing to finish for years. They started making the dark chocolate one again, but we still have the old bottle and haven't gotten a new one yet. Surprisingly, it's still really good.)
Brazil: Carnaval Moscato Sparkling White Wine
Brewers Collection: Bier Flight (Because I don't know which one to pick, so I'll just try them all).

Now I guess I need to pick some food to dilute all of that alcohol...
Africa: Berbere-style beef tenderloin tips with onions, jalapeños, tomato and pap
Belgium: Belgium waffle with berry compote and whipped cream (it has berries, so it's healthy!)
Brazil: Cocada (I like coconut, and the idea of coconut candy intrigues me)

Here are my choices for the AB countries/areas!

Africa To drink:
–Indaba Chenin Blanc – $5.25 or
–Fairview Pinotage – $3.50 or
–Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz – $3.50

Probably the Pinotage, but the other two might strike my fancy depending on weather and mood.

Belgium To drink:
–Stella Artois® Cidre – $3.75

As a general rule I like cider so worth a try!

Brazil To drink:
–Frozen Caipirinha featuring LeBlon Cachaça – $10.00

Brewer’s Collection
–Shöfferhofer Zitrone Weizen-Mix – $3.75????

Africa
–Buttered chicken with micro cilantro and naan bread

I meant to try this last year and never got around to it!

Belgium
–Belgium waffle with warm chocolate ganache and whipped cream

Another I meant to try this last year, but....

Brazil
–Escondidinho de carne, “Little Hidden One”: layered meat pie with mashed yucca
–Crispy pork belly with black beans and tomato

Eeenie, meenie, minie moe....I guess either of these could do in a pinch...if necessary....

I always forget about this one. I did just redeem some things there recently and have a $6.25 balance now, but it seems like it doesn't add up as fast as Ibotta does. Maybe I'll be able to cash out the required $20 by November? LOL!

Totally still thinking about this...IF DISNEY WOULD JUST GIVE US THE DATES.

They do seem to take their sweet time on that don't they? Especially when you have to book your dining reservations 180 days in advance! Hopefully it'll be out soon though since booking is supposed to open in two weeks.

I think I am seeing a pattern....

Yes, it was so bloody hot last year we just didn't eat a ton. We did try a lot, but not as many things as we had planned!

I was just stopping by to see if there were any updates. We are in double digits now & only a month until FP!

It seems like forever that I have been on the DIS and I apologize to any lurkers and regular followers. I have not stopped planning, but life has certainly gotten in the way of making regular posts. I lost my planning mojo, excitement and desire to even think about the trip. Wow, we are in the double digits and under the 2 month mark! So let’s start with a major dining change…after all it is Wednesday.

Whet Your Appetite Wednesday: Post 10K Celebration Breakfast
Parisian Breakfast at Les Chefs

ad32989264045e9d90817d61d1a03344.jpg

Remember when we first were going to follow tradition and post 10K have breakfast at Kona for that famous Tonga Toast? Well the reports coming from WDW was the changes in Tonga Toast had not been good, so we changed to the Grand Floridian Café. Well, that too has changed because now we are having post 10K breakfast in Paris.

and depending on the finish line/finish time of the 10K we will probably end up adding an extra mile to our 10K just to make the reservation on time. I certainly hope that we are not the only sweaty runners there!

I am so excited that Gretchen and Jan will be joining in on the celebration of sparling mimosas and buttery croissants (okay…I really want some of those pain chocolat croissants).
