We (DD and I) ran the 8K. Met up with the WISH crowd running the half for dinner Saturday night and then cheered for them at the finish line.
We stayed at the Governor's Inn (the less expensive option of the official host hotels.) Basic hotel, nothing fancy, but they did offer a nice continental breakfast and shuttle service to and from the race. Also within walking distance of the colonial area. We actually walked back from the race instead of taking the shuttle.
The 8K course was fabulous, since it was entirely within Colonial Williamsburg. I don't know that the group that ran the half can say that. There was a long out and back stretch along a road that was fairly hilly, and there were some complaints about the surface being difficult, especially for a few who were nursing injuries.
The finish festival was amazing. Lots of food, terrific barbecue sandwiches, free beer, and plenty of other food to choose from. Local bands playing, and just a great atmosphere. The finish itself was on the track at the College of William and Mary, so you ran a lap around the track right before crossing the finish line. Then you had to walk about a quarter mile to get to the finish festival itself.
We're still trying to decide if we're going to register for next year, but it's definitely one we're considering!
