Hello,
While we were last down there we stayed at SSR and took a tour of BLT. We're considering purchasing. But I Really LOVE the Poly and I read about rumors that this might be the next DVC resort. If that's the case, I would just hold out and wait for that.

Has anyone heard any news about any new DVC resorts at WDW?

Thanks :flower3:

I wouldn't expect any new World DVC's for several years. Theyve got to sell BLT, AKV and SSR. Still building Hawaii and they just bought land in DC that might include DVC.

Probably at least two years before we hear about the next DVC site at the World.

Thanks for the quick response!
When we took the DVC tour, our guide told us that BLT would most likely be sold out in February. We know it's most likely a sales ploy; but he also told us that SSR was sold out:confused3 He said DVC doesn't do resales (Timeshare store does - we've looked there too :goodvibes). We honestly left there thinking that something else must be in the works.
DVC in DC, huh?:surfweb:

DVC does do resales....My understanding is that they "repossess" points that might've been denied ROFR.

Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk both are "sold out" resorts and we purchased all our points from Disney within the last 3 years. You just have to ask......

DVC doesn't actually sell them as resales, they sell them as new. You would be buying from DVC, not the previous owner. You would get the points immediately, you would not have to wait to close like you would with a resale. They sometimes restrict the older resort sales to current members, not new.

I've heard BLT is only about half sold and many of those were current members. I doubt they will sellout by February, I'd bet at least another year beyond that.

Cost though is higher for the "sold out" vs the live inventory. They may not even have inventory for you to buy. If you want something that isn't live and dont need to finance I would suggest just going through resale.

I work with a Doctor who was just down last week at Disney. His relative who works for Disney also said that Poly will be the next new DVC. He didn't know too many details. Just wanted to let you know I have heard the rumor also. I love the poly!!

Not sure where you got the idea that sold out resorts cost more than live inventory. Though you don't get the incentives, as far as I know the 2042 resorts are still selling at below the new resorts with DVD (that may have changed, but it used to be the case).

Do not use your guides Feb 2010 sell out date for information, all indications from the info in these boards from deed information is that is will be late 2011 or even 2012 before BLT nears sell out.

You could be holding out for years -- if you really like the DVC experience and can afford all the accompanying costs, you can get your foot in the door with a smallish resale contract at an existing resort and try it out. If you're staying at the Poly for a few years now, and plan to keep doing that, you might be ahead of the game to spend that money on DVC points and try the other resorts. If/when the Poly is added, you can (probably, if the rules don't change) add on points there at whatever "buy-in" level you want at that time. If you want to visit the Poly in the evening for dinner and fireworks, as a DVC member, you can do that from another resort (I think you can even pool-hop to the Poly from a DVC resort).

(Oh no -- I put my old marketing hat on -- I'm SO not a DVC marketer!!! -- but, you can buy a smaller number of points resale, then buy a smaller contract through Disney than what they require for a first purchase).

Don't forget about Washington DC ,DVC wouldn't buy that expensive land just to grow corn..lol

Is his relative a bus driver? :rotfl:

Sorry, but I wouldn't put any stock in anything ANY Disney employee says about a new DVC at the Poly. Now when it's announced - I'll be selling my points to buy there, definitely, but since I don't want to wait the 5-10-2000 years until it's announced, we bought elsewhere.

Good one, Vicki...I was just thinking the same thing too haha

We are obviously saying the exact same thing here. No incentives = higher cost.

:rotfl:LOL Love that one about the bus driver :rotfl: It wasn't the bus driver that I heard it from... tho I can't remember from who or where.
I do like the idea of purchasing a few points for now just to get my foot in the door.... Me and DH like the idea of taking the monorail back and forth to EPCOT, especially during the F&W Festival, the the lounge at Top of the World, and the nice lobby. We don't like how you can leave your room and just walk out to the parking lot... my husband also likes to socialize and chat with fellow vacationers, that's why the BLT are appealing to us. He just doesn't like the decor. I think when we go on vacation we like to see tropical deco. Makes us feel warm..

Thanks for the tips and if anyone else has any idea about this, I want to know!

Looking at the area available around the Poly, I just don't see it. There really isn't too much free space around the Poly for development unless they reapportion part of the Palms Golf Course.

Conversion of existing Poly building doesn't seem to make financial sense at it is one of the most popular destinations as is.

Since the part of the point is to establish a high-demand resort without cutting into other profitable areas of the business model, I can't see Poly DVC any time in the forseeable future.

That being said there is a space of undeveloped land between CR and TTC that is both on Seven Seas Lagoon and also on the monorail line that, if stable enough for development, seems extremely desirable.

if it was no larger than the DVC at WL, they could put it between the existing resort and the wedding chapel, they would have to move the Laua Cove but I am sure they could do that.

And you can always take the Disney Land approach... Starting throwing up parking decks and use the space saved to build out more. You could open up a huge area for Poly by adding a few decks in the east end of MK parking lot.
