Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

It's finally here! We only waited a year...

My little guy and I are booked in for the dining package at Tusker House next Sunday (the 19th) so we'll be sure to report back. I decided to give it two nights to get everything going properly! Actually pretty excited!

And for someone who HATES Wishes, I am beyond excited for a new fireworks show at MK!

Our plans were to only do 1 park day before our very first Disney cruise. So we have the following plans:
2/25 arrive at BCV and relax at pool
2/26 AK till noon, Epcot afternoon/eve (DD wants safari, FOLK and Frozen ride and Soarin) so everything was set
2/27-3/3 Dream
3/3 MK DVC after hours party

Now with ROL in the mix I can't decide what to do.
Option A:
Lunch at Tiffins on 2/26 (already gonna be there)
Epcot in afternoon and then bus back over to AK to see ROL

Option B:
Add another park day on 2/25 (need to buy another ticket for DD)

There will be me, DH, DD, my dad and his girlfriend
Help

So, if the only ticket you'd need to purchase is DD, does that mean that the rest of you have APs? Option A is definitely doable, and I like a lunch ADR, but it seems like the packages are all for the first show, so not sure how much of a time crunch it would be for the afternoon in Epcot to get back to AK? But if you don't want to make any plans for your arrival day and just want to hang at the resort, I definitely think option A is doable. The dinner packages are early - or at least what I've seen for our trip in April. Can't get dinner past 5:30, so it definitely would mean less of a relaxing arrival day, but I'm the wrong person to ask since I like a reason to add a park day! Really, I'm no help at all, lol!

I'm trying to juggle a baby and only have one hand - can someone point me in the direction of the showtimes? Specifically the first show time for Sunday Feb 19th?

Edited to add: not actually juggling baby and do indeed have two hands. Just meant typing is tough while holding wiggly baby on hip!

OMG - Our trip this August is going to chock full of new things! New show at MK, Star Wars fireworks (which my family hasn't seen), AK After Dark (which none of us have seen yet), Rivers of Light, Avatarland - super excited!!! Now all we need is a new nighttime MK parade!

It will be going to a whole new destination for you! :cool1:

The only thing we have experienced on that list is AK at night...and add to it new Soarin' and FEA because we were early June last year...so it truly is gonna be so many new things for me and my boys. Of course DH hasn't been in 35 years so it will be about 90% new to him....lol.

Oh good point - my family hasn't been since March last year (I snuck in a September trip). So since a year ago, I count:
- Frozen Ever After
- new Soarin'
- AK after dark
- ROL
- Avatarland
- Star Wars fireworks (AND all the new Star Wars experiences)
- Once Upon A Time projection show
- Happily Ever After Fireworks

Exciting new stuff in all four parks! And I bet I am missing other new things.

I'm going in April (and went last April), so the only think I've caught on your list are the Star Wars fireworks (fun fun!), and I'll still miss Avatarland and Happily Ever After Fireworks! But excited about all of the other things - and I'm sure I'm forgetting something...

Your last trip was April? Then the Star Wars fireworks will be new for you too. They changed the show in June of last year.

It will be important for you to get a good spot if not doing Dessert Party (and I don't even think that is a prime spot). The old big intense fireworks and booming music are gone, the launch moved out of the park and show replaced with a SW Projection show with some lasers and some fireworks, and music. We did twice last trip and first was just in front of Dessert Party and the other was a dead center prime spot. HUGE difference.

It's good, better than I expected, different but def not the great fireworks show it was before. I think the reason some are getting concerned about the new MK show is that it could end up being more projection and less fireworks like this one and that would be a bummer.

Yes, I'm a little disappointed in what I have heard of the new show and am glad I saw the old one. We are definitely hoping to book the dessert party for our trip.
