Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Well, we're in the middle of re-siding our house. It's painful, as it's not only expensive, but they found a large area of water damage that will need to be repaired before they can proceed...ugh...between the pounding on the wall, the dogs not being able to go in and out a hundred times a day, having strangers here until sunset (weird trying to eat supper with them still here!) and now they have bumped the satellite dish, so we have NO TV at all.

They are doing a great job with the siding, and what they have finished looks amazing, but...I sure can't wait for it to be finished!!:scared:
Well I hope the work goes quickly! I'm sure it will look nice.

Mine has been busier than I planned. After my hospital stay, I was taking care of meals for my friend who lost her baby. Now I am getting ready for a retreat in a few weeks. I am going Saturday to pick figs so I guess I will be canning this weekend. :)
Glad your back on track. Hope ur friend is ok.

This summer has been a little on the wild side....lots of unexpected house guests. This past weekend I felt like I was running a bed and breakfast. :laundy:More company coming for the 4th of July weekend :faint:..yeah I can't wait to pack our bags and hit the road! We're really excited for the Star Wars dessert party!!!
Yeah I can't wait to book the SWAGS dessert party for Sept.

We went to Disney the first full week of June, were back home about 3 days and then left again, this time for Louisiana. My DH is originally from Lafayette, LA and his cousin was getting married. We've been home about a week and June is almost over so half of my Summer Break is gone. Boo hoo. Lots of doctors appts, swim lessons, birthdays, and activities for the kids set up for July. Then back to work August 1st. Yuck.
Sounds like you had a fun summer so far.

THNX for asking. BTW you asked for it LOL. BUSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just over 30 days to go so I'm trying to get the last of the crafts done for out trip but the weather has been nice and my boys want to spend lots of time in the pool. I can multitask but I'm not taking my sewing machine out by the water! At least I've got a rough plan for our first 2 days in UNI. Still waiting for SW fireworks schedule for August. We're also not sure about going to our local fireworks this week. They're a big let down after Disney but may not be so bad before Disney. Hope you're all having a great summer.
My 10yr DD and I are always in the local pool. To me any fireworks are fun. A summer tradition.

My summer has been busy with work, running my DD to gymnastics practices, and visiting friends. It's about to get a little more interesting because I just scheduled an interview for next week for a new job opportunity! The following week is my DD's 7th birthday and party, and the week after that I'm heading solo to Orlando for a conference with a little bit of Disney time worked in. Ideally, I'll have my last day at my current job before leaving for Orlando - but I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch - have to get through the interview first!
Good luck on the job interview!

Has anyone done the new SW fireworks/show? I thought the one they did before this were some of the best fireworks ever. We watched it on YT last night and I liked it just not as much. I'm very curious to see/read a first hand report of it!

And sooooo much for ROL in September lol
I think @yullin3 pics of it look so cool! What a great job she does of informing us on her Starwars thread!

Hi Loungers! We're already looking at April to coincide with Star Wars Celebration. I have my RoL pins set aside to bring with me. :) We're thinking of trying out the BCV or BWV for flower/garden. Maybe Rivers of Light will be functional! *giggles*

Our landlord just informed us this week that he is selling the property. He's already shown the property last night. DH is looking for employment and we're open to moving out of state. If anyone knows of a reputable company that is seeking graphic designers, please send me a PM. I suppose a view to take is htat we're in a period of literal transition right now.

At least we're not in 4 hour lines at the Frozen ride.... there are worse things.....

We saw the SW Fireworks/show last week and really liked it (though we never saw the old one so we can't compare). One night we did an Illuminations cruise and our captain asked if we wanted to go over and watch the Star Wars fireworks after Illuminations. Of course we said "yes"! We could see the high fireworks and hear the music from the boat but we couldn't really see any of the projections or the laser portion of the show. We thought the fireworks had some very unique elements/designs. We went to DHS the next night and staked out a spot in the courtyard in front of the Chinese Theater so that we could see the projections and lower fireworks/lasers. Wow....what a difference. We thought the show was amazing (and I'm not even a Star Wars fan...haven't seen any of the movies). That show is definitely designed to be seen from that vantage point. Some of our party watched it from the front of the park and they weren't as impressed because they couldn't see a lot of the elements. When watching it from the courtyard, we realized that the actual fireworks portion of the show is non-essential and the critical portion is actually being able to see the projections, lasers, etc. (at least in our opinion). And I can tell you that those pillars of fire are unbelievably hot!!! We were nowhere close to them but could feel the intense heat the second they ignited.

Would you be willing to copy this review over to @yulilin3 's SW thread? They were wondering if non-SW fans would enjoy the show or not.

Good luck. Sometimes changes are for the better. I hope so in your case.

Quick report on our visit last week:

The good:

Stayed at AoA in a Nemo Suite. It was a nice change from the Lion King Suites we've stayed in during past visits. Wouldn't hesitate to stay in either section in the future.

Got to meet Anna & Elsa with an 8 minute wait on our arrival night. We could still smell fresh paint in their new location.

Loved the new Soarin' film.

Really enjoyed Frozen Ever After but wouldn't want to wait more than about 20 minutes for it. Glad we had a fastpass for it.

Did another Illuminations Cruise and had the same skipper as last time which was fine with us because we loved him. He also took us over to DHS to watch the Star Wars Fireworks.

Loved the new Star Wars Fireworks show.

Found lines to be very reasonable for this time of year. We always visit in June but this year seemed to be lower crowds than some other years. Or maybe we're just getting more efficient at managing our wait times by making good use of rope drop and fast pass. One evening we had a FP for KS @ AK for 7:00-8:00 p.m. We arrived at about 7:10 and there was literally no standby line. NONE! Our safari truck wasn't even half full. Very bizarre.

Finally managed to do a night-time EMH at MK. Stayed until 2:00 a.m. So many things were walk on after midnight. We did 7DMT with about a 20 minute wait because we wanted to experience the standby queue.

Watched the Kiss Goodnight.

The "meh:"

The Jungle Book show. I wanted to like it but it was just "ok" for me. I'm glad I saw it once, but I don't need to see it again. Hopefully ROL will be up and running when we visit again in 2 years.

The carpeting in the hallway of the Nemo building we were staying in at AoA. It was gross and disgusting. Full of stains -- some of them were very large. The carpeting in the room was fine but the public areas of the building were horrible.

Overall it was a great trip. Can't believe it's over already. :(

Thanks so much for this! So you are able to proceed directly to the ride from breakfast? Are you held outside the attraction until the "mob" arrives then? And when do the masses enter? Want to make sure we time this right!! :)

We were held at the doors but we watched the crazy line come in. We were still ahead of everyone. The masses arrived around 9:03ish

Held at the door of Akershus? So when were you let out? When they dropped the rope at Mexico? Or you were held at the doors to the attraction? Just trying to visualize exactly how this is going to work! Thx!!
