Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Okay, so I just called dining again. I know, I know, let it go. No, seriously I called for another reservation. Do any of you know if Big River Grille is a Disney owned restaurant? the CM I talked with said she couldn't make a reservation there but she didn't know why. She just said that they never had made pressies for that restaurant. Also, saw another update last night. For those of you going the week of April 15th...the MK train will not be in operation. I was a little bummed about that!
BRG doesn't take ADRs - its walkup only

:offtopic: I can't find where to ask a quick ticket Q, so if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. I have 10 day hoppers (from Undercover Tourist) I purchased a couple of years ago in my MDE. I want to upgrade them to Platinum Passes when we arrive. Do I take the cost of a current Platinum Pass and subtract the current cost of 10 day hoppers to get what I owe? Do I have to use the hoppers once before upgrading, or is this not actually true?

OK, I think it's out of my system. At least 6 rejected Comments yesterday to the Blog, then one got through that was actually quite negative - it has since been deleted. My last attempt did get through and is for this group more than anything.
Use the first letter of each sentence to get my message.
:furious:
Haha!! Good one!

Good question. I'm in almost the same boat except we got our discounted tickets elsewhere. I'm hoping by the time we go things will be settled and myself and my dh will be calmed down enough to upgrade.

I am a bit confused. I was all the sudden able to score a 6:30 Tusker House on my AK day (5/16). Park hours are listed as closing at 6pm. Is it normal for reservations to be available a half hour after the park closes? Up until now the latest ones I have found are up to the park closing time...
Hey - I will be at AK that day and at TH at 6:10. :flower:

It is my understanding that you should use the ticket once, and then when upgrading, you will pay the difference between the AP price and the price of a 10 day hopper. We have 8 day MYW, WP and More, and are planning to upgrade. Have a great trip!

I just noted that we can now pre-order our BOG lunch. Is there any advantage to doing that? I'm afraid that when I order something now for the kids, they will decide on something entirely different when our actual visit comes around.....

I am also very undecided if I should look for a TH breakfast for us again. This whole ROL thing has left sort of a sour taste. We have the F! dining package set up for dinner at H&V so they have a character dinner there, even with the same characters. And I rather keep the F! dining package now that ROL isn't hapenning. Hmm..... How does the Harambe Market food compare to TH in "exoticness". That was one of the reasons why we went to TH as well.

We did the pre-order lunch during our last visit, and it really is a time saver. Rather than standing in front of a kiosk trying to decide what to order when your name is called, you go to a "pre-order" desk and the Cast member hands you the little RF device (a plastic rose or something) and then you just go find a table. People who have not preordered line up in front of the kiosks to order before they get their RF device and go find a table.

Can't comment on the TH reservations - have only eaten there once, and that was many years ago, and we didn't care much for it. I'm sure it's different now.

Not sure if it has been posted, but it looks like ROL has been pushed to a summer opening. I read there will be an "update" in mid May.

It can potentially save you a TON of time in line. I've heard you can still preorder up to the same day. If you have a smartphone, you could ask the kids for their orders the morning of your BOG ADR.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I booked a BOG early breakfast at 8:10 AM (and there were a lot of reservations available around that time even 1 to 2 months ago). This also happens to be on my actual birthday! I didn't do it to get a headstart on rides, because that's never my priority. I did it to get in the park early for some good photos before the place is mobbed! I suppose, though, that most of the early magic hours people will be running to the 3 rides. But, as discussed, this day is one of the early morning magic package days as of yesterday's announcement. I hope they will let me order cupcakes. I may be in the minority, but I'm not otherwise thrilled with their food. I'll still make the best of it!
It would be great if we knew how many tickets are being sold for this early morning event. That way we may be able to figure out how crowded it may be.

From Behind the Thrills website

"Why the delay? While the new show is definitely one of the most involved shows the resort has ever done, it could be all about timing.

Just yesterday, Universal Orlando announced they would be having a media preview of their new Kong attraction, new hotel and more in late June. SeaWorld Orlando announced that they would be launching Makoto on June 10th. We wouldn’t be surprised if Disney wanted to wait until either right before, or right after those attractions to take the focus off the competitors."

Hope that's not the reason...fingers crossed they get it fixed before my May23 AK day...but if not oh well...will still have a great time! :)

You only need to use the tickets once if you purchased them at a discount (to receive full face value). If you purchased then from Disney direct there is no advantage to waiting - you can even upgrade before you go if you'd like.

See the last few dozen pages of this thread... Those of us with April and May trips have been going through the seven stages of grief together since the news broke yesterday.
:) What I find funniest of all is the show is further back now than when the date was announced originally. That is one hell of a delay.
With all the closures at HS it makes me sad that we chose to go now.

I think I've officially hit rock bottom with my planning for my June trip. I'm really disappointed in what's been announced today... Between hearing that ROL is postponed & now that a MK morning "pay for play" event is happening on my one MK day... I'm done! I'm tired of trying to plan a trip with a company that cares more about their bottom line than their customers...

I am in the same boat, feeling exactly the same way! I don't know at this point what will be up and running in the new offerings for our trip on June 13 and 14, so it's terribly hard to plan! :scared:

Same for me. After going multiple times a year for almost 20 years this is the one trip where I am not excited about planning. With decreased park hours(I know those might change), delayed openings (ROL & AK nighttime, FEA, Soarin'), no SWW, and all the new paid for events they are throwing out there to mess up our plans, it is just discouraging.

Since we go so often we are a little more flexible, but we still like to have a plan. I know we will have a great time and I am excited about going but trying to plan with all the changes going on is very hard.
