Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I'm doing a two day mommy daughter trip on 5/31 and our FP+ window opens in just a few days... I never imagined I wouldn't be able to get a AK evening FP for 6/1, or even a FEA/Soarin FP! Goodness, did I pick the trickiest times to go? We're going to MK only with my grandparents on 8/12, and won't be back with DD to Epcot or AK until October... hopefully I can plan to see those three things by then... :P

Ok - I pulled a Keith on the blog this morning. Waiting moderation

Love magic Kingdom at night! Sure would love to know about Animal Kingdom nighttime festivities, particularly when Fastpass will be available for Rivers of Light.

Yeah, I don't think they will either. I wish they would though

I think that would alleviate some frustration. I think there would be enough people who would stay for the other events to make it worth it. However guests need to know the park will be open later. They could extend the hours now and do the other activities.if ROL is ready, awesome. If not, then people can adjust as needed.

The AK park at night page still lists the 22nd.

That's weird - I look at the website at least once a day(including right before I posted my answer) and I have never seen anything for June except MK closing at 10pm. Must be one of those weird website glitches. :confused3

I pick FP+ times in about 2 weeks and usually everything is pretty much set in stone by this time. Sometimes they will add an additional morning or evening hour depending on crowds but park times were set. Our plans are pretty much set, may shift just a little based on what they do at AK and with park hours but it would be nice to finalize things. I keep wondering if they are waiting to see what happens with the new "After Dark" events and potentially add some in June. I really feel for those going in April and May.

While I want to finalize things I do love this group and hearing everyone's plans. :grouphug: I may not post a lot, but I am always here lurking.:surfweb:
I'm very concerned about them either changing/adding EMH mornings to our dates or adding the Morning or Evening extras. We avoid EMH as much as possible, but I know it can be a crapshoot as to whether the hours for things like that get changed.

Lol yep, little one is still ignoring all attempts to get him to pack his bags. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to decide if we should wait a little longer or think about an induction. I have tried every single thing I can think of to get him to move, but nothing so far. DS3 was a week early and weighed 7lbs 15oz so now I'm terrified about this baby being huge and still having to get him out somehow!
With my two: my oldest was 4 days late and weighed 7 lbs 1oz. My 2nd was a week early and was 7lbs 5 oz. So they really could be completely different in when they arrive and how much they weigh. But I know its hard not to think about comparing them! Hoping he comes soon! We are all anxiously awaiting... :)

Thank you so much! My family thinks I'm crazy, and is afraid I'm over planning-- but with Disney it seems that planning is necessary to even successfully "go with the flow."
Pretty much my family thinks I'm a little obsessed though my mom does see that things have changed from previous trips and more is required now. I've pretty much been doing most of the crazy planning with a little input from her but now I'm down to needing lots of input from both her and my dad as I schedule fastpasses in a week. They don't seem to feel the urgency! :worried:

I think they are all sitting back and waiting to see how anyone ties in the ROL with that weird Yzma & Kronk thing.,...LOL

Off topic - has anyone come in after the fact and added the dining plan? I called to do this but I had booked a room only, added my tickets later, and she said she'd have to turn my reservation into a package. The cost of the DDP for 4 adults, 2 children was going to be 1900.00 for 5 days, but what horrified me was that she said she would have to cancel my dining reservations. Though she assured me she wouldn't "lose" them, I can say that every one of my ressies (except 1) would be IMPOSSIBLE to replace. (BOG, CRT, Imagineer, F! H&V, pre park opening BOG and Garden Grill, 1900 Park Fare). I am not willing to risk it so I guess I'm out of luck.

Totally wrong about canceling individual dining reservations. I have added DP many times and never had to cancel a reservation. I would call back and ask again.

All 3 of mine had to be forced out. Luckily it all went well for us, I'm hoping the same for you.

So this is the first time today I've checked this page or anything to do with rol.

Pretty big difference from last week.

I have lost the bubble. The fire in the belly has gone out. I have not checked at either midnight or 6 am in 5 days. I can't even keep up with this thread anymore.

Our original plan was to leave at park close (5 pm, y'all), go to ADR at Chef Mickey's (never been there or any other resort restaurant so new to us), have an early night for the kids (last night of the trip so they will be wiped) , pack, and get up early for RD on departure day. Unless I really luck out, I think we're going back to that plan. But it kills me that I'm talking about CM instead of ROL! :duck:Either way we will have fun.

New Blog about Shangri-La opening day tickets going on sale...which from what I read on Rteetz's News thread, sold out almost immediately.

"Thank you for expressing your concerns and interest --- at this point, unfortunately, we do not have any more information to provide you with. Out management team is working diligently, trying to figure out ways to increase prices without our loyal guests finding out how we were able to. We are constantly coming up with new and imaginative ways to take your hard-earned money.

As far as Disneys Animal Kingdom as it pertains to "Rivers of Light" -- please be patient, and keep checking the
Disney Blog for more information. Our goal is to have the park up and running for guests on the scheduled planned date of April 22nd, 1998.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Maggie

:offtopic: Redbubble is having a sale today....hmmmm, should I get DH the "Maelstrom: Never Forget" t-shirt?
This reminds me: where can I get some Disney tanks? I bought one from Amazon (but most are juniors and I wanted regular woman sizes) and I bought 3 from the disney store online. I have a few t-shirts too but I really think I mostly need tanks in June (except maybe when we return in the evenings). Any good places to look? I've looked at Target, Kohls, Walmart and nothing but t-shirts - no tanks.
