We have a reservation for Boma - we've never been... but since yesterday's conversation I've been thinking of switching it! Although I've heard Boma is very good!

Boma is very good, lots of variety.
I think the fun of Boma for school aged children is the atmosphere. Usually there are a couple of people playing African drums. After dinner, sometimes we walk out to view animals on the savanna.
It kind of depends on how much time you have in your schedule. I like these sorts of conundrums. Much better than trying to read the ROL tea leaves.

I hear you! My son loves CP so we're doing it on the first night of our trip with the DDP - we're just doing the DDP just for the first part of the split stay (2 days) and we put Boma and CP for then! the 10 YO adult thing is a pain!

Yep !!! Neither kid is picky, so that's good, but the lil guy gets stuffed pretty fast, so it makes the OOP price tough for us to justify--- he has a few meatballs and MnC and he is done --- btw, I still say that the Boma meatballs are the best in Disney !! ( including the Italian restaurants!)

Was just thinking about this ( due to the other thread regarding the "Extra Magic" event ) and thought might be fun to get some other ideas ---

Let's assume the cost is $149 PP ---

For our family, that would be $600 --- ( would never do it) -- would never say that other people are crazy for doing it (it's personal preference) , but would just rather spend that $600 elsewhere.

Ok, so if you HAD to spend it, what would YOU do?

Thought about it --- would get (4) discounted tix ( via Cirque club) to "La Nouba" and have dinner before the show at
"T-Rex" --- AND ... have a nice QS meal at MK and then head to the Contemporary to do "Pirate and Pals"

Anyone else?

Another vote for Wild Africa Trek. Or maybe a Wishes Cruise.

It's funny that you say this...on the ride home from the hockey game, I was lamenting about the fact that the preview parties had been cancelled And then I was thinking about the fact that I had squirreled away all of the money to pay for the preview party.

Disney is kind of in the doghouse with me for changing up all the April hours at this late date, and even though I understand that delays can happen with new attraction and shows and such, the lack of information this past month about ROL has been frustrating to say the least. So, part of me wants to keep my cash and not spend any more.

But of course the other part of me wants to spend that cash on some other cool thing!

So in conclusion...I am taking suggestions...

Illuminations cruise is my favorite extra ever. Think it's around $400 with tip. Though you could always share and split the cost with other diser's. Up to 10 people can go.

Yes, I read something about that when I was doing "side research" for my Sister trip! That's cool that you can split costs!

I spent most of the morning trying to tweak our plans
We are at AK on the 15th
We also have the 5k on the 15th
Which means a very early wake up
When I thought we might get a preview party I had a 2:30 ADR at Sannaa and planned to meet my cousin that lives in FL, and then close down AK at the event
Now that it is off the table I considered these options. AK closes at 6:30. It is not our only AK day
1. Return to resort, head to AK, tour till 3:00, eat at Sannaa, go to resort and hit the sack early
2. Return to resort, nap, head to Sannaa, head to AK till close, head to resort and hang, hit sack early if we want, swim or maybe walk to MK if we don't (we are at CR, TPV)
3. Return to resort, nap, head to AK, close park, go to Sannaa, Return to resort

Number 2 is what I ended up scheduling
Number 3 was the next choice but the ADR time at Sannaa was too late

One - you can always ask. The worst they can say is no. Two - keep trying! People cancel every day and I guarantee that there will be spots open up 2 days before because the cancellation policy is 48 hours for F! Packages. Three - what date are you looking for? I have one to cancel. On that note, keep watching the cancellation thread for your month. It's in the dining forum.

Thanks for the advice! I check multiple times a day, like I do for ROL info, lol. I suspect some might pop up close to the trip. The specific date I'm looking for is April 23rd. Thanks for mentioning the cancellation thread. I hadn't come across that yet.

My DH doesn't really appreciate Disney. But he really enjoyed dinner at T-Rex, dinner at BOG, and breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. If you can afford it & can get the ADRs, do them. We don't use the meal plan though so I can't speak to that. Sounds like you've got a great trip planned!

Has anyone done breakfast at 1900 Park Fare? I was just browsing MDE and noticed an ADR for tomorrow morning, so decided to book it for an Easter breakfast. I don't even know which characters are there, it just seemed like a nice choice for Easter. Any reviews?

We really enjoyed our breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. We met Mary Poppins, Alice, The Mad Hatter, Pooh & Tigger. The Mad Hatter was a riot! The food is standard breakfast buffet. Nothing fancy but lots of choices. My pre-teen son is a bottomless pit & loved it. Our waitress was delightful. I am looking forward to going again.

Waiting on ROL and Frozen Ever After, AKL park hours, Soarin refurb end (although that is suddenly looking like July....).....

Ok, so because no (good) ROL news today, I have a question for my fellow support group members. Looks like the boys and I, minus mom and dad but add in a hubby...lol, will also be traveling to Disney in June 2017. For that trip, my co-worker friend is going to rent us her DVC points. They have 140 points they will rent. With just us 4, we'll do a studio. We won't be able to do BLT, GF, or the Poly, but everything else is doable. I'm mostly focusing on Boardwalk, Beach Club, or AKL (Jambo or Kidani) savanna view. I like the theming of AKL best and think I like the bathroom set up at Kidani more than Jambo. I like the atmosphere/location at BW or BC.

Looking for any and all opinions!

We are planning to go back June 2017 too! We stayed at BLT last year and are doing a split between BCV and BLT this year, all in studios. We love BLT, despite the tight quarters. I'll let you know how we like BCV after this year's trip -really looking forward to it! We are actually thinking about trying AKL for the first time ourselves for next June, so I've started reading about it. It looks gorgeous and seems to have a lot of great activities, but I'm a little worried that we may have been spoiled by the close proximity to parks we will have enjoyed with BCV and BLTx2.

This was my daughter's favorite meal of our last trip! Though, it helped that we ate there on her birthday and she and her brother came dressed as Mary and Bert, and so got some good special time with Mary Poppins (one of our favs!). The food was good and the characters were fun. I think you'll have a good time!

What I did was book a fastpass for Dinosaur, which I wont need and when ROL becomes available (thinking positive here), I will switch it.

When I planned my upcoming trip I actually planned my AK day for April 22nd. So imagine my excitement when the ROL announcement was made! ROL or not I figured AK was the place to be with my kids on Earth Day. I know last year there were special activities there for an Earth Day celebration. I've tried searching but haven't been able to find anything going on this year. Has anyone heard of anything possibly going on, besides the new nighttime activities? The most I can find is that we might be able to buy a "worm & dirt" cupcake. At this point I figure I need a plan B in place in case things don't go as we all hope that day.

Well, let's see...if you did NOT have a ticket for the day, assuming you would be buying a One Day ticket for MK - that would have cost $100+ depending on what season you were visiting. THen, there is the bountiful ice cream novelties and sodas, but more importantly, the UNCROWDED and UNLIMITED access to the entire park...no waiting for the rides... If I lived close, and wanted to do something really special, and didn't have an Annual Pass, or multi-day pass, I might consider it doing the after hours one....you can come into the park 3 hours before normal closing time, and stay a couple hours after the rest of the park clears out...might be worth it...

Other things I might do:

the African Wildlife Trek - I've done it twice, and that is such a great tour!!

Maybe spend a bundle at a SPA? Or VIP tours,...oh yes, there are lots of places I could spend that money!

Off-topic but since you have done Wild Africa Trek twice- debating on this one for my daughter and I. She turns eight while we are there. Do you think it's too much for an eight year old?

On the topic of arriving early, we are actually flying in the night before and arrive very late (land at 11:30 pm). I have an offsite hotel booked for that first night. When we get up we will make a grocery stop before heading to POR. I expect we will arrive by noon and plan to head to MK for a few hours. I know we can leave our bags with bell service if the room is ready, but what bout our small amount of groceries? There won't be any refiregerator items, mostly water, beer, and breakfast and snack items. I suppose we can leave them in the car, but the Florida heat in July won't be so good if stuff is in the car for a few hours

We were able to leave groceries at BLT. However our room was supposed to be ready and it was not, so not sure if they were trying to be extra accommodating. Not sure how this varies by resort but I would call and ask. It could be a standard service.

Off-topic but since you have done Wild Africa Trek twice- debating on this one for my daughter and I. She turns eight while we are there. Do you think it's too much for an eight year old?

I think it would depend on her...there is a height minimum of 48 inches...probably because of the safety harness for crossing the bridge. If she is mature enough to be in the ride vehicle for a couple of hours with the rest of a tour group (one of our tours was full, 10 people I think, the other was only 4 of us) and would be OK crossing the hanging bridge by herself, she might really enjoy it. There is a lot of stopping to watch animals with the binoculars they supply, and the little meal they serve is a little different, but they will accommodate food allergies, I think. Maybe others that have kids (mine are grown, and my grandson is only 2...) might be a little more in tune with age.... Hope this helps some anyway.
