Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Man I am having such a hard time deciding.

California Grill right before wishes, or The hollywood brown derby fantasmic package.. And yet, I will be seeing wishes from main street the night before but the idea of CG is tempting. Damn lol

So much stress between all this river of light stuff and this lol
HBD for the seating and I like Wishes in the park the best.

So 3 things:

1. DH's preview party tickets were cancelled due to "schedule changes." I assume that means the previews are officially not happening. DH text me to tell me, and then text again to say "so since we don't get the preview, can you go ahead and book a dinner package? Why don't we try Tiffins?" Seriously. :furious: I really think my cats pay more attention to me than he does sometimes.

2. I'm so sorry for everyone whose plans are being screwed up for April and May. I don't know what to suggest, I'd be so frustrated. I can only hope they release some dates for things soon (early morning packages, solid EMH hours and you know, THE ROL TIMES)

3. Thanks for the info on Memory Maker. So I buy Memory Maker, then go out and take photos for 30 days (since we live here), then after 30 days I have 45 days to download everything I want to keep. Is that right?

I just saw the comments about the am EMH week end of 4/15, do you think they will make Fridays the new paid EMH? Fridays have been a slower day in the past, in fact we used to stick to Sun or Wed or Fri for MK visits, then they switched things a while back and we went to S/T/Th.

I dont know what to expect. I have been cking Touring Plans and Easy wdw constantly to see if they have any ideas about how these will impact "best park" and such or for any more leaked info. I can not imagine how annoying this must be for April visitors, we are going the week of 5/15 and it is making me crazy!

Maybe since it's so close - the change of EMH for MK, other people might be locked in as well with their plans. Just a theory, maybe it won't be as crowded as a typical EMH day?

Maybe - that's a positive thought - maybe we can take @Paigevon 's advice and keep our FPs, push off the BOG until later in the morning, and then bail after that...

Good grief I hope not. As of now, with the exception of the one evening EMH scheduled each week, MK closes every night in June at 10pm. I would hate to think that Disney will keep that regular closing time at 10 and make the paid extra evening thing the only option for being there past that time during summer hours. Can you imagine with the summer crowds and having regular closing time at 10pm? That's nuts :confused3
Gosh hearing this makes appreciate the fact that we can go in May that much more. I think they will still have EMH but I also believe they will have the paid extra hours as well and may be seeing how it goes before finalizing set times.

Family of the day - so cool! What does that mean there?

Family of the Day at Blizzard Beach included being escorted into the water park early while a CM explains the back story of the park. They will ask one of your children if they want to ride Summit Plummet and then give them a medal to wear around their neck (I'm sure they'd give it to both). You are given The Captain's Hut (I think that's what it's called) to use for the day. This is a large shaded hut with lounge chairs, chairs, towels and a picnic table. The also give you a locker to use for the day. Once you are settled, they take all of you up to the top of Summit Plummet to wait until the park opens. Right before opening, they announce the name of the family member taking the first ride. You will all get one ride in before anyone has even made it to the top.

Ok....that is totally cool!!!

Tried the lunch - no go, will try later breakfast. But as I said a few minutes ago... I don't want to be at MK on a Saturday extra magic, but I like my FP times and don't think I can duplicate them at this point - maybe I can. I don't know what to do.... and the hits keep coming on this April trip.

Can someone remind me why we make FPs 60/30 days in advance?

When checking for BOG breakfast or lunch, remember to check for availability for several ADRs for 1 or 2 people at the same time or within a few minutes of each other. You may need to call to book the second (third, so on) ADR(s) or use a second MDE account, but since you seat yourself, you don't all need to be on one reservation to eat together.

To those who just got their days messed with do you have a touring plans subscription? they make personalized plans. A good plan can help somewhat. The cheat sheets from easywdw are also very helpful

Another great thing about the TP subscription is the ADR finder. It has helped me to get a few ADRs for next month and I haven't had to run my phone battery down by checking availability a dozen times a day.

That sounds amazing! Especially the Captain's Hut - although my kids would probably be more excited about the other stuff!

DH just came home and I told him of today's "changes" - he is steaming! :furious:

I'm still more in defeated mode...We had so much fun on Main Street on the way to breakfast taking pictures and such. I was really looking forward to that :( It's not like we can't get there early and do rides, but that was one of my favorite memories from our last trip and now my plans for this trip are erased...

We were chosen because of my Disney planning OCD. I was so worried that we would be stuck in a long line to purchase the water park tickets, that I insisted we take a cab to the park. We arrived very early (cast members were still arriving for the opening shift). My husband was not happy with me; he actually refused to wait by the gate with us. At the end of the day, he was happy the way things turned out.
