Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I made us an ADR at Sanaa on our off-park day. I was already eyeing the bread service. We all LOVE naan bread! Wondering if I should just get the appetizer as an entree for my kids and get me another appetizer on top?

That is our plan exactly! During our last visit to Sanaa, my husband and I decided that we liked the bread service the best... and could definitely make a small meal out of it! So this time we're doing just bread service and another appetizer or salad. (And drinks, of course!) Splurge for all of the toppings... totally worth it!

I have always preffered Typhoon Lagoon....but my kids prefer Blizzard Beach. Luckily we go for 2 weeks so we can go to both. If my boys had to pick one it would be Blizzard Beach.

My 12 year old prefers Typhoon Lagoon because of the wave pool.

Cause I'm not wading through 17+ pages to find out whether or not ROL is up & running to get FP+'s for, omg. >_<

If you guys don't mind... We're staying at the cabins in Ft Wilderness, planning to swim, dine, and Chip 'n' Dale campfire on arrival day.

Arrival Dinner: Whispering Canyon Cafe (any other suggestions?!)

(MK day)
Breakfast: BOG pre-park
Lunch: Pecos Bills
Dinner: either in cabin, or P and J's Southern Takeout (Formerly Trail's End To Go)

(Epcot)
Breakfast: In cabin or P and J's
Lunch: Akershus
Snack around the food booths
Dinner: TBD--considering: Rose & Crown, Coral Reef, Biergarten, or off-site near Epcot

(AK)
TH breakfast or dinner? Both currently booked, undecided--waiting for the mythical dining package beast unless it's no DDP
Flame Tree BBQ lunch or dinner
What about Sanaa?! Or Yak N Yedi? Ugh

(HS)
1900 Park Fare breakfast before late arrival (Maybe I should change this to a non-char meal that would impress DH?)
Mama Melrose F! package dinner

(MK)
Breakfast in cabin
BOG Lunch
Columbian Harbor House dinner

This is our first time ever eating at MK (that I remember, went once) so advice is so so very appreciated!

Also, my DD4/turning 5 is obsessed with water parks (or the idea of them) -- would you say either of them would be a good value to bring a 5 year old? She can swim but needs an adult at arm's reach because she wears herself out swimming and doesn't pay attention to when she needs something to grab on to--besides, wouldn't let her be away from me in a waterpark anyway, but she's only 44 inches tall.

Looks good. What time are you thinking about for R&C?

Hi all - coming out of lurking... I've been following along and hoping for weeks for the release of some kind of information about the ROL dining or a Tiffins opening... now that I'm on spring break I will be a little obsessed... our trip isn't until August but a girl has to plan!

After my DD5 did BBB a year ago, we saw the Tremaine sisters and Lady Tremaine walking around the carousel - DD ran up to them to show off her princessness that she got from BBB - the loved on her and took us all for a ride on the carousel - it was awesome! They were so funny! Such a great memory!

That sounds so magical! I love characters! :welcome:

I have been watching and lurking this thread since the beginning. Thanks to all of you who check every morning for news! Getting very excited about our early May trip.

YAY! Me too!! :welcome:

I HATE to be the bearer of bad news but for some reason I still have access to the HUB, today is the day the parks post their in park events and now it shows the preview events all cancelled.
It's showing the 15th Premium Preview and both the 16th and 17th preview events cancelled...they were cancelled 3/22
There's an event showing for April 19th called "Awaken Summer" no details on it, it's all TBD other than to say it's a promotion event, for 600 people and will start at 7:15pm until 9pm. It could be DPB meet up or just bloggers and media event
sorry everyone

Thank you for the update! @OhioStateBuckeye if you wanted to add this to the thread maybe?

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting on one these forums. I have actually been following this thread since the beginning. You guys made me feel compelled to finally start an account an join in on the fun/madness! =) So just wanted to say "hi" before I start chiming in. I have to say you have all been very entertaining!

:welcome::sunny:

WHY OH WHY did I wait so long to click on this thread? I'm on the boards every day. I'm not a lurker, but for some reason never clicked on this link until a couple days ago. I feel like I've really been missing out!! While I hope we have actual info soon, I must admit I'm a little sad to think of this thread ending. My trip is the first week of May. It looks like there are a number of others going at the same time. :)

I can't speak to all of it - I'm supposed to be cleaning ;) - but wanted to make a quick plug for Whispering Canyon. Some people don't love the food - or the antics - but we enjoyed both. My kids loved it and it was their first request when I told them we were going back to Disney. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment, so there's less people, so not sure if that will affect the "atmosphere" but definitely a good time!

Whispering Canyon is such fun.

Rose and Crown has good food, lots of atmosphere, too. We really like it.

I don't think you can go wrong with Flame Tree or Saana. If you're looking for a sit down, Saana.:sunny:
Yak and Yeti was just OK for us. Not bad, but not really worth the trip.

Mama Melrose for F! is a good choice.

It's been a long time since I was at Columbia Harbor House, but it generally gets very positive reviews.

1900 Park Fare-Haven't done. It might depend on whether you want a character meal that day.

You all have a great trip planned! :goodvibes

I'm so glad! I think the atmosphere sounds hilarious and cute!

Grab it and keep checking for a later one. Good luck

DONE. ;)

I'm just piecing things together I may be wrong I may be right but I'm thinking the paid for previews aren't happening. I very well think the dining packages will still happen but the previews will likely never happen other than a scheduled media only preview just before the official opening.

Heres a question for you guys sine were all about dining right now

I have reservations at Jiko last night I am there, late reservations. I wanted a nice relaxing dinner the last night with a lot of wine.

Fantasmic is on the table though and I haven't seen it.

I have california grill booked one night right before wishes, but I am gonna see it from the park itself the night before.

Would you guys cancel CG and do Fantasmic instead? Or would you move Jiko to around 5ish and see Fantasmic at 9 and keep california grill?

Of course when Rivers is fast pass ready then I really won't know what to do! I think for that id Move Jiko to 5ish and see rivers of light later
I would make a decision that included Jiko. We love that place!!!
About CG, the food is very good, no doubt. But it's pretty frenetic. We must prefer the atmosphere of Jiko. Lots of good options in your list, I don't think you really can go wrong with any of them.

hmmm...TL looks so tropical, so that appeals to me, but BB just looks different from other water parks. I'm really hoping that we can do both. Someone that's been on this thread - I can see her avatar but can't remember her name - she said on another thread that her family just goes to the one whose bus arrives first! That's not a bad strategy!

Am I more likely to get seating in the shade at one or another? DH is a bit of a delicate flower... :flower1:
Typhoon lagoon definitely has more shade!!!

I think you are right about the previews. And I'm also thinking that the dining and FP will not happen right away. Probably not in time for those of us who will be there in the next month or so... :(
