Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Oooh can we have a Diagon Alley party? Or at least talk about how awesome Diagon Alley is?
Well, we have our days set with dining which includes 2 half MK days plus 1 full MK day (our Princess day, we call it), a full HS day set, with Minnies Fantasmic package and Dining with an Imagineer. Then we have 2 incomplete days, waiting. I have both booked with Epcot and AK (multiple) ADRs, fps for AK up in the air, Epcot fps set (for now). Then we have US tickets (buy 2 days, get 1 free) only we just have 2 days set for US as we want to do Sea World as well. We had a family meeting today to go over the plans and we decided that if we did not get a package or fp for ROL, we would NOT do AK on this trip, and add the 3rd US day back. We don't want to endure the crowds and be shut out of ROL (going first week of May). We already had our Epcot day blown up with the push back of FEA opening. DH and I got US season passes, and we will come back in September, though if we go to WDW remains to be seen Tickets are so expensive. We may just buy the MNSSHP and do the party only, if they ever open those tickets up for sale.

ETA: We are doing on/off property this time, AoA and Bonnet Creek, and in September off property. We've been pretty bummed at all the good ADRs in September being snatched up by those hoping for free dining, so we may just skip it all together.

LMAO !!!!

Same here. We were initially going to try to squeeze in two Universal days on this trip, but decided to wait until DD6 is a little older. We also want to stay on property when we finally do go to Universal. We have a split stay planned for this WDW trip (AoA/Poly), and we weren't too keen on the idea of switching to a third hotel or giving up either one of the WDW hotels as it will be our first time at both.
No way do they do this

No I give that no chance of being their plan

Yes, sadly I do think they will add the dining packages later

We aren't going till DGD is tall enough to ride everything, probably 2 more years

We were all set to try it then when I spoke to our TA about it, and I told her that our kids couldn't handle EE, she suggested I wait. At the same time, my friend returned from a split trip with her 4 kids. The youngest was too little to go on much, and her 11 YO wouldn't go on anything - they enjoyed the HP stuff, but she felt like it was a lot of $ for 1/2 her kids not to really be able to do rides - sooooo, we decided to wait!

@beesly , yes, we definitely want to stay on-site when we go to Universal - I can see where that would be a lot of changes! We like spit stays too! This time around it's WL and AKL! We love the poly - you're going to love it!

My little one will be too small for most of the coasters, etc. However, she will love ET, Caro-Seuss-el, One Fish, Story Time, Sinbad Stunt show, Curious George and Fievels Playground, Dr. Seuss land, Woody Woodpecker coaster, Pteranodon Flyers, Hippograph, Cat in the Hat, Shrek, Animal Actors, Barney and they have a parade. Also just walking through some of the areas is amazing. They have the interactive area at Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, We may try to sneak in my favorite, Terminator 3D; I think that's more than enough.

Perhaps, but for us it wasn't, so we decided to wait. The way I figure it, they won't grow out of the HP or the Suess stuff, so we'll be better off to just try it next time around...

The main reason we decided to go was the HP stuff, plus when the APs for WDW got so expensive we sprung for the US AP since we are going twice this year. It would take 3 trips to justify the cost of the WDW pass. We're going for 10 days, and if we cut AK out, there are only so many times you can go to MK. Epcot is nearly a half day park for us now (with little ones) and it only takes 1 day to do all HS has to offer. That is with plenty of down time, afternoon breaks and 1 day off completely from the parks. With the new ROL, I had considered 2 days there, but as I said before, the crowds will be too much if I don't have a guarantee of seeing ROL. I'm from the old school of going to WDW way back when, and the larger crowds have been quite an adjustment for me. I am pretty much there for the grandkids these days.

As for the ADRs, I have duplicate days. Garden Grill breakfast for 2 days and TH dinners for 2 days so I can flip flop whichever day works best. Once the later fps open up, I will have to readjust my whole day. Also I held onto a pre park opening ADR at Akershus with the slimmest of hopes that FEA would be open, but I've pretty much given up on that.
