Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I have not! My fiance has been but he was 7 so he doesn't remember much. I feel a little lost in the planning, I just want to see everything. We only have 2 park days so I think we will just see what we can and enjoy ourselves and not stress!! I am really excited to see World of Color.
Hope you guys have an awesome time!!! WoC is definitely a must see! I think that's the right attitude: don't stress and just see what you can. :thumbsup2

And even ducks aren't all innocent at Disney. One time we heard a racket down a side path and investigated to see ducks giving a couple of small children a lesson in the birds and the bees - only the female did NOT seem too pleased at the situation.
Male ducks are aggressive, and the females can be picky. And their private anatomy is, well, unique and designed to thwart the reproduction of unwelcome suitors.

Yes! We stayed at CSR in September 2014 and there was a bridge over a lake(? maybe it's not a lake, I forget) and there was a gator right there in the water.
Funny you should mention that...a couple of years ago we stayed at CSR, and at that bridge we had to cross to get to the main building and food building and there was a guy wading in the water - silly me, I thought he was researching insects....now I know better!

Check out the DL forums on this board, those DL people are super nice and will help you plan. There are also a couple of super threads that will tell you everything you need to know about stuff like World of Color.

And to think the most I've encountered are frogs and lizards near BC...

We saw palmetto bugs while walking on the boardwalk one night last year - we weren't expecting that. :crazy2:

I've seen some pretty fierce geckos at the Poly (and lots of bold ducks!), so be aware, @beesly !

Yikes! Thanks for the warning. We did see a few geckos at Pop last year but they usually ran away from us when we walked by. I first saw them on work trips to FL, which taught me to stay on higher floors there!

Thanks! I have been stalking around there and on the Aulani thread. And listening to lots of podcasts! :)

We saw a rat at BC a couple years ago

She was doing her best.

We beat a hasty retreat trying not to bust out laughing until out of earshot when the little ones looked up at their parents and said "What are the ducks doing??"

I had an armadillo run out in front of me as I was walking from the bus to bag check at Epcot for rope drop last Fall. He or she made a dash from one patch of greenery to another. Amazing for a Northerner to see an armadillo! We don't have them up here frolicking in the snow :-)
That does remind me of a time we saw one that had met an untimely demise between MK and BLT. :(

ETA: So funny... We're now the "discussions about nothing and various WDW critters" thread... :rotfl:

DH and DGD saw one while we were walking to HS from BWI last December. I barely caught a glimpse of his butt as he went in the grass

The cutest thing we've ever seen was a family of baby ducks that swam in the pool at WL

You know it has been a pretty slow information day when this thread morphs into an episode of "Walt Disney World Nature Watch".
Yes, but it passes the time, and it's more fun than :laundy:
I think it will probably stay pretty slow through the weekend. The word was that they don't want us to "stress out". If I was a betting woman, I would probably think maybe some word very shortly before they start taking dinner package reservations. (My fingers are crossed that they do some public previews...I would love to get tickets!)
They seem pretty firm on April 22nd ROL opening. It's Earth Day, as well as the anniversary of the opening of the park. I can see why they'd work quite hard to make that deadline for a public opening.
So we wait. :fish:

My fiancé and I both check this thread many times a day, hoping for information and to eventually score tickets to one of the preview nights. When not reading this site, we are probably talking or texting about it. We spend so much time discussing Rivers of Light rumors, or as I've started calling them, Rumors of Light.
