Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I just called and asked about the preview packages and the rep said they are NOT booking it yet.

I'm sorry. I called back too and the new CM said it wasn't available to book yet either. She didn't understand why the other CM said she could book the package for me. She did confirm the $105 price and two preview dates of 4/15 & 4/16.

So Sorry, It is Not bookable yet. I just called back to confirm, The CM said I could not book it yet. She didn't know why the CM asked me if I wanted to book it now.

I had originally posted that a phone CM asked me if I wanted to book the Preview Package when I called at 9:40 am.

I'm confused. You called only to ask and see, didn't actually book anything?

I was also told we can't book yet. That said, it's $105 per person with food and $52 per person without food. That is ridiculous, IMO, for a show I will be able to see for free just a few days later. If this were a once in a lifetime trip I might be willing to spend the money, but since we go frequently I won't be booking this.

I understand what you are saying. Lucky you to go frequently! This is an extra special year for us, the first time we will have AP's.

I expect it the preview party be much like a food and wine special bookable event. That's not cheap, but if the times work I'll go with having food.

I just called and first she said nothing yet then she said oh wait I can begin booking a ROL preview event from March 12-april17 at $105 po,so I jumped on it and said yes please book me. Then after a long pause she read a message to me like she had asked someone for help and she apologized saying they were unable to book this just yet and to try back. I asked should I try back today or if she knew when and she didn't know. :( ugh I felt so close to getting it. We are in the same boat as so many of you , our last night in the parks is April 22 after being there for the half marathon the weekend before.

She read the menu to me. It's not that impressive. Some "sweet and salty cups", chicken wings and other basic nibblers.

We have no problem paying for F&WF events, but this seems very expensive for what you get, IMO.

Nothing on 4/17? I'm gonna' cry! I don't want to do this the night before a half marathon! :( But... I DO want to do this...

I'm not worried about that. Disney usually works something nice...that may be the basics. But, I could be wrong.

I just called and spoke with a really great CM. Got the same message, but she said it will be a preview event on 15-16th only! She said they haven't released the dining packages or anything yet because they were still "finalizing details and working out the kinks."

No, that is the full menu. She said it also included beer and wine but food was just appetizers/bites. Again, it is just my opinion that it is a lot for what you get. Anyone who feels like it something they want to do should go for it. I have no doubt that it will sell out. For me, however, this just seems like a lot of money (the ticket without food is $53ish) to see something I can see for free the next week.

One more note about the frustration related to uncertainty... for my Apr trip, I started with no fewer than NINE THINGS UP IN THE AIR...
  • Would they be open in time (RoL, Tiffins, Soarin', Frozen ride)?
  • When would they be bookable (RoL packages, FP+ for RoL, Soarin, Frozen)?
  • Would they be extended (Club Villain, SW fireworks dessert party, Ferrytale Wishes)?
If it was only RoL, not nearly as bad! But look at the 3 things that they just keep extending a month or two at a time?! They know the demand now -- why not extend further? Or pull the plug? Annoying. I get it -- they are maintaining MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY FOR THEMSELVES, and creating MAXIMUM UNCERTAINTY FOR GUESTS trying to plan their trips the RECOMMENDED 6 mos. out. Eesh.

Now... add in that we are LUCKY enough to be going in Aug as well for a longer trip, and it's all of the above uncertainty TIMES TWO!

It's a lot.

I'm starting to wonder if "finalizing details and working out the kinks" may be code for raising prices from what they initially planned. Isn't that why the Club Villain dates were recently cancelled then rebooked?

I've done pretty much every ticketed event Disney has done in the past 3 years and is never been disappointed in the event. They have been worth their cost, and then some. So when this can be booked I will book it. Plus, we won't be there a week later when it is free
We've never been disappointed, either. They always do a little extra to make things special, we think.
@AngiTN If it's OK to ask, which night are you hoping for? We're hoping for the 16th.

Agreed!

OT: Is that a new avatar pic? I like it! :)
