Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I am going to make a prediction that the opening date of April 22 gets postponed. I think they are unsure if they will be ready, hence the delay in the package availability

I was thinking the same thing :( At this point, it would be nice to know either way, but I guess it'll just be make the best plan we can and hope for the best?

On the phone now. I'll let you know what info I get....

Yep, postponed. We (the CM and I) just spent the phone call laughing at how ridiculous it all is. He said watch the Disney Parks blog for more info. Sounds like it could be awhile. Blech.

Well, I'm thinking that I'm done being the mouse in the maze, and stop fixating on this. If it happens, fine. If not, there are plenty of other things to fill my time there, and we will have an open evening to do what ever we want to.

Zen. upload_2016-3-12_6-22-33.pngOhmmmmmmmmmmm.....not working yet...I'll keep trying......................

At this point I am planning on no adr or fp being available. I'm going to keep the night open that we tentatively think will be a night for rol, but my back up will be hoop dee doo and chip and dale campfire.

Why is it absurd/ridiculous/spellbinding that these events aren't available for booking when Disney hasn't released an official date on when they would become available?

Because the events are always "available" before they're officially available. When the official release gets put out, they're usually "unavailable" at that point because they're sold out.

People HAVE been being told by cast members that it would be available on XYZ date, only to find that when that date arrives, they are then told it will be available on ABC date. Along with the fact that previous OFFICIAL announcements have been made FOLLOWING when they really flip the switch, and those who wait for OFFICIAL announcements often find they are already gone.

It's the lack of honesty about what we are being told that leads to the lack of trust in anything OFFICIAL

Because clearly they were already supposed to be bookable. And something has caused them to be postponed. We aren't just guessing at this stuff. There is info to back up that today was supposed to be the day: there was an official Disney memo to CMs. So that's why.

I would not say it is "clear" that they were supposed to be bookable as Disney has not released a date that booking would start to the public.

And I believe the memo to the CMs said the 15th was to be the date (though a memo to CMs is NOT the same as a public announcement). Then somewhere along the line yesterday some CM told someone who posted it on here that it was to be today.

Case in point: It was "news" this week that WDW just confirmed that they would be extending hours at 'Ohana beginning this month.

Someone on the Rumors and News board said they tried searching yesterday for an ADR for a late April trip after hearing this "news." Unfortunately for them, WDW quietly opened up ADRs for these extended hours over a month ago, and they're already gone even though they're just now confirming the extended hours.

For a large organization you'd think that they'd make sure they were going to be ready or organized for opening before throwing dates/events/etc out into the public. Clearly they sent out something recently because most CMs yesterday were on the same page for things opening up today. It's changing hourly it seems. I just don't get what the hold up is. Youre either ready or not. Not to mention that hyped up live chat. How are we not supposed to be frustrated?
