My ds is going to be home in a few minutes and I have no idea what to tell him. He's been my coplanner for our trip

Thank goodness no one in our group knew about it. Heck, they don't even know it's coming.
DH knew and he'll be disappointed it's unlikely for our May trip.
Still working on nailing down when our next trip will be. Likely August, just before school starts back on the 8th

Silly me, I've been selling my family on going to AK on the 22nd instead of DHS.

Yes, in addition to the aforementioned book signing, there will be a festive Unofficial Non-Preview Party Earth Day Happy Anniversary Animal Kingdom Extravaganza. It will consist of me and my family hanging around in our ROL t-shirts and pins. Hopefully I will have a Dole Whip with rum punch, as I've heard they have that there...

! It seems silly to me that Disney would go from releasing all of these amazing things on Earth Day to doing very little, but it might also be that they're scrambling a bit to figure out what bandaid they can put over this whole debacle.

So now that I have put the kids to bed, I finally for a chance to sit down and reflect on this - and I have to say that my initial disappointment has officially turned into relief now. I was at the 24hr 60th anniversary kick off at DL last year. By accident. New parade, new fireworks, new World of Color - it was a nightmare. People starting camping out 12 hrs in advance for the night parade and the firework . There were people everywhere. And a lot of overwhelmed CMs. Just thinking back at that and then thinking about new ROL, me having to use an ECV and 3 kids in tow... Part of me is quite relieved I don't have to deal with that. Yes, its disappointing we don't get to see it, especially since I don't know when we'll be back. But then, it also gives us something to look forward to. So I guess I'll just look at it like that. It wasn't meant to be.
