Do you happen to remember the date when Disney posted 4/22 as the proposed date? I seem to remember reading about it on the dibb maybe 3rd week of March

I'm actually mad right now. Nighttime Safari, Tree of Life lighting, Parties and Carnivale, EE at night.
I'm sure in a little while I'll get over this resentment, but it's just another Disney 'not understanding their customer' moment to me.

I even had AK as a maybe for April and May trips, with no anger ............... now it's a no.

but I think it's a poor decision on their part to postpone everything.

IF RoL is the glitch, and everything else is ready ... start all the rest of it.

It might help the crowd factor to open the rest, then later add RoL.

And there will be a lot less mad guests who have been waiting for this.

Sweetening the pot can go a long way vs cancelling the whole deal.

Agreed - I'm surprised at how upset I am about it! I think that even though I knew ROL was in trouble, I thought that some of the other stuff you mentioned was in play... I still thought it would be really cool to be there that evening. I probably still will be and I'm sure I'll have fun, especially since I have AK FPs and this info is coming so late I don't think it makes sense to change things, but I am also resentful. Where is the resentful emoji??

Well now at least Disney can do their monetized preview parties for sure and make their extra money. Let's all breath a sigh of relief about that.

I'm actually feeling a little angry about the other nighttime experiences too. Could at least open them.

I thought it would be more disappointed that ROL isn't happening for our April trip, but I'm almost relieved . Waiting and checking as much as we all have, and then concern the park would be super crowded I'm really OK with it not happening for this trip. Now I can finalize our AK day. It will be at the top of my list for our next Disney trip!!

I feel the same way. I just wanted to know, one way or the other. However, I know I'll be back in October & can see it then. Those who were really counting on it...

How bad must the technical difficulties gave been if their next announcement is not planned until a month after the expected open date?

Or do we think they are saying mid to late May so people will stop calling every day, but they actually plan to make an announcement sooner?

A week or two delay seems acceptable, but a month or more? They clearly knew long before today they weren't going to make the 4/22 open!

Now do I rearrange my plans for late May again, or just keep hoping...????

I am too - very sad. And given that they're not giving details on the timing until mid to late May, they must have known for a while they wouldn't make the 4/22 deadline. Grrrr...

Or since they knew Tiffins was delayed until June they decided to do it all together

I'm so sorry to all of the April/May folks! I love that they even used the language I predicted when I got into my pessimistic sure-they-were-going-to-postpone-it place (to exceed our guests' expectations... ). The one upside is that you now at least have some certainty about your trips and can move forward. Those of us going in June are still on the ride and the ride ceased being fun a loooong time ago. I hope we won't lose all of you all, as you are what has made the wait tolerable and, in many cases, even enjoyable!

Well, I'm glad we finally know now that the decision has been made to postpone opening. Now we can go on to our contingency plans! I know it was a difficult decision for them to make and that they were really hoping to open on Earth Day, but it's better to have everything ready and up to Disney standards. Guess we'll catch it in October!

As far as 7DMT's opening went, they did have to postpone opening a few times, but there was no official opening date announced for those earlier ones. I had lunch with the Imagineer at HBD a few years ago with the project manager.

Wonder if I'll hear back from Austin this week! He told me yesterday they would have an announcement at the end of the week or early next week. Glad we didn't have to wait that long!
