Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

So, just to clarify...offering suggestions on how to plan differently that might offer less stressful touring are not encouraged? Only comments by those who share your frustration and think any suggestions contrary to what they have been doing are offensive are welcome? Well then, my apologies. I'll keep my eye out for another thread which encourages others to share tips and strategies for better touring and planning practices.

I wish you all the luck in the world with your planning. I hope you finalize your plans as soon as possible and nothing gets in the way..no travel delays, no rain, no schedule changes,no resort issues, no magic band problems, etc etc etc I hope that the changes coming to MDE on April 10 present nothing but positives for you. I hope that when the details for the new Star Wars Fireworks come out, they mesh well with your finalized schedule if you will be touring at that time. I hope that if you are touring when the Anna & Elsa details are released for Norway, they mesh with your finalized schedule. if you plan to dine at Tiffins, I hope it goes well. I sincerely do.

For anyone else (whether lurking or posting), there are other ways.

I know it is difficult to infer tone and meaning from written text. Your tone feels as if it is condescending and critical of anyone who doesn't feel the same way you do. I completely understand why the individual you were conversing with felt personally called out. However, I also give you the benefit of the doubt you are truly trying to help alleviate other's stress and remind them their is another way to doing things.

That said, for someone who is unable to visit WDW often, a lot of planning is required. It is, undeniably. Yes, stressing about things that are not within your control is futile and will make anyone crazy, but maneuvering around these unknowns and possibilities is still an aspect of planning. Hoping that as many unknowns as possible are alleviated before your actual vacation arrives is completely understandable.

I think the majority of us are much less stressed and tied down to a strict plan than you believe. Yes, we'll moan and bemuse ourselves over the lack of information, we'll post silly emoji's about slamming a hammer on a computer, but it's really about camaraderie and getting through the mild frustrations together. It's much more fun to visit a thread of people who are excited to see something new and checking every day for information than it is to continously check yourself and have no one to chat with about it.

I understand your underlying message. Just because I don't personally have a laissa faire attitude about my Disney vacation planning does not mean I perceive yours as incorrect and unwelcome to be shared.

May 1st! Dining packages will be available from May 1st on!!!!! More to follow!

Would like to know when you'll actually be able to book these! I sure would like to get one for May 8th.
Sorry, but I think that info is old...if you look at the last posts on the thread, they say things are now "quiet"....I don't think the original info is current. :(

For the record, I am not bothered but this but is pretty much the same kind of response I gave that is being considered as "jumping on" on someone else and is being called "so sad".

I think a post (reference point if you will) kinda like what MesaBoy did with his FP+ guide would be overkill and ALOT of work. First, for it to be effective it would need to be constantly updated...which is kind of my point. I( mean, Josh has an entire blog about things like that. My comments in regards to RoL is that we don't know what we don't know. There is a countless supply of tools out there to help people gather all the info they need to plan every smallest detail of your trip, and there is nothing wrong with that. BUT, in a game where Disney controls alot of the variables there are alot of people who find alot of success by planning everything to the smallest detail BUT allowing for flexibility. When appropriate I have discussed them before. For example, I was recommending Fantasmic FP+ from the jump when people like Robo called them a waste of time simply because the Fantasmic FP+ allowed for flexibility. It doesn't mean that Fantasmic was valuable to everyone, but to some people, in some occasions it was.

Reeling it back in here, I think in regards to RoL and especially dining packages (the origin of the thread) there are ways to plan what you want to do BUT have ADRs as back up if not. FP+ make it more difficult but again, not impossible. I think finalizing ADRs right now before RoL details come out would be a big mistake for someone who wants to the dining package. By the same token, I think it would be a big mistake for anyone touring soon who wants to do the RoL dining package to not have a backup of something just as awesome just in case.

It doesn't mean one way works and one way doesnt, it means that only one way allows for success when Disney changes the variables.

At the risk of sounding a little too pushy, I'm thinking that perhaps this has been kicked to death. Time to move on.

one of the most recent posts is referencing this these boards. I love that folks are scouting the other site to bring info back! (although it would help things tremendously if there was any new info to be had...)

I think the point is, pretty much everyone here is doing this. We may express frustration about not being able to finalize plans but that is because we're doing exactly what you're advising, and we'd rather not be tying up ADR, for instance, that we won't use when others may be checking every day for an opening that we have.

:offtopic:
So we are going to stay and Animal Kingdom Lodge for the first time Villa 1 BR Savannah view but in Jambo nothing at Kidani. Any room recommendations? I think I read all villa's are on 5 so higher up. Looking for good views of the animals, that's what I'm paying for right? I know a room request isn't a guarantee but wanted to see if any Loungers had favorite area/Savannah/Trail (whatever all those choices are).
TIA

Yes, all of the DVC villas are on the 5th floor in Jambo House because when they started building DVC there they converted one entire floor of hotel rooms. Now that the trees have grown sometimes they hide the animals from that floor. We personally prefer Jambo House over Kidani but don't usually book savanna view rooms (we usually book std. view as we have had hit & miss views on the Uzima and Arusha savannas and we don't really spend all that much time in the room). I have heard some say they have better luck with views when requesting a room on the Sunset savanna. I don't know anything about the Pembe savanna except that it's on the Kidani building.

I love it too! I think both sides "scout" the other all the time (and they have a lovely FP+ availability tool over there). Hello DIBB friends! :wave2:

Here's the thing (for me; it may not be the same for others): All of your posts on this thread have sounded very condescending and I have to say that this one was the worst of the bunch (and yes, I've ready every post in this thread, from every poster). If you had read all of the posts on this thread, you would have known that most of us have back up plans depending on what happens with RoL and we will use them if needed, thereby staying "fluid and flexible" as you say we all need to. Our frustrations come from not knowing yet whether we need to go with those back-up plans and therefore do what we need to so that we can cancel our original plans while still playing by Disney's rules (ie cancel ADR's, make FP+'s, etc) and this thread is a place for us to commiserate and celebrate those plans together. I can understand if that is not your bag of chips, but please do not speak to those of us who have a pantry full of those chips in a way that makes your disdain for us so clear.

We all know that there is more than one way to plan and all of us have shared our ways throughout this thread without anyone being made to feel as if they were being attacked by another poster. Suggestions are more than welcome, but none of your posts have sounded like suggestions. In the end, each of your posts sounded to me like a dressed up way of saying "Geeze you people are stupid. Stop worrying about RoL and just go do something else. It's not that big a deal and you are wasting your time."

And there are enough of us who have heard what posters on the other threads and blogs think of us, that you do not need to come here to make your opinion known. We know that we are all a bit kooky and that is fine with us. We are having fun while we wait and there is nothing wrong with that. You aren't being forced to buy a t-shirt and button afterall.

And the fact that you stated your sincerity completely negates any actual sincerity in your previous words and actually sounds as if you mean the opposite.

This anticipation seems to really be getting me and I can't even distinguish February and March anymore. Sorry guys, I was over on the DIBB for something else and got an alert there and saw that. I really thought it said March 27th and was so hyper I came here to post.... I've never heard May 1st mentioned before so I was super excited when I read something new :guilty:

It appears my first post didn't pass moderation (although it was exactly the same as some others so maybe it will show up eventually) but here is my take 2

Who stole the ROL FPs?
What postponed the Tiffins opening?
Who makes the finest ROL dining package?
What’s in your AK plan itinerary?
Mysteries of life, waiting to be solved
We’re here in our ROL Lounge pins, trying to get involved!

Here's hoping BB-8 can put on his mystery detective trench coat and find out information for us!

Hey, I liked it! I'm really waiting for that FT dining package ... if you see anything else, let us know. That old news is good news for me :D

"It looks like BB-8 has discovered something new. What do you think he is doing? Leave your guesses in the comments, and keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog to see a unique look at what BB-8 has found! I have a good feeling about this …"

HE HAD BETTER BE DISCOVERING SOME ROL/AK PARK HOUR INFORMATION!

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2016/04/what-is-bb-8-doing/
Do you think BB-8 discovered extended AK hours or RoL dining package or fastpass+ reservations? :rotfl2:

LOL...

Considering the post is from the Disneyland Blog I'm guessing it's got something to do with their construction being further along.

LOL... The Disneyland blog writer is probably going to wonder what on earth RoL is. Or AK. Or Tiffins
